    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent any wrinkle or swell and defective profile in the plate width direction of a cast slab which are generated by the increase of the surface area of the molten steel between a scum gate and a drum circumferential surface caused by the change of the molten steel level and the increase of the distance between a lower end of the scum gate and the drum circumferential surface caused by the ascent/descent of the scum gate in molding a thin strip cast slab by a twin-drum continuous casting device. SOLUTION: When a drive cylinder 17 is contracted, rollers 16 fitted to the right and left of a gate supporting arm 15 are guided and raised by a guide groove 14, and the gate supporting arm 15 ascends from the position A to the position B. The arc of the guide groove 14 is formed of the radius by adding the distance k between the scum gate 5 and the drum circumferential surface 1a to the radius r of a cooling drum, and the scum gate 5 is raised while maintaining the predetermined distance from the drum circumferential surface 1a. As a result, the surface area of the molten steel between the scum gate and the drum circumferential surface, and the distance between the lower end of the scum gate and the drum circumferential surface are not increased.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a cast strip having suitable crown by reducing change of the crown on the cast strip caused by thermal expansion of a cooling drum.
      SOLUTION: In a method for casting the cast strip by using the cooling drum 4, an outer layer water passage is arranged in an inner layer part along the peripheral surface of the cooling drum 4 and an inner layer water passage is arranged in the inside of the outer layer water passage. A water temperature controller 24b controls a shell thickness constant by controlling a water temperature adjusting device 21b according to the water temperature with water thermo- meters 22c, 22d and a water temperature controller 24a controls a water temperature adjusting device 21a according to the water temperature with the water thermo-meters 22a, 22b and/or the crown on the cast strip with a thickness meter 23 in the width direction of the cast strip, and in this way, the cast strip having the suitable crown can be produced.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To restrain the lowering of strength and the thermal deformation of a tundish body. SOLUTION: This tundish device is constituted so as to be applied to a twin roll type continuous casting apparatus by arranging one pair of side weirs 2 at both end sides of one pair of water-cooling rolls 1 and the tundish body 4 having an immersion nozzle 5 above the water-cooling rolls 1 and fitting a seal chamber 6 covering a mold part 3 formed with the water-cooling rolls 1 and the side weirs 2 to the tundish body 4. In such a case, a water jacket 11 is fitted to the bottom surface 4a of the tundish body 4 and radiating heat from the surface 101a of molten steel 101 in the mold 3 is shut off with the water jacket 11 by connecting a water supplying pipe and a water draining pipe penetrating the seal chamber 6 with the water jacket 11. Further, the transferring heat and the radiating heat from the molten metal 101 in the tundish body 4 are cooled with the cooling water 111 flowed in the water jacket 11.

    • PURPOSE:To exchange a ladle with one carriage in the stage of casting and to reduce the time for the exchange by disposing a base provided with a lifter for a ladle provided with a support in a trunnion direction and a traveler for the ladle and a stationary stand for holding the empty ladle in a stand-by position to a ladle exchanger for continuous casting. CONSTITUTION:A lifting base 1a of a carriage 1 holds a full ladle 2 and pours the molten steel into a tundish 3 in a casting position A. When the ladle 2 is emptied, the ladle 2 on the base 1a is risen by the lifting device 4 of the carriage 1 and is retreated to the stand-by position of the position B. The carriage 1 arriving at the position B lowers the ladle 2 by the device 4 and leaves the same on a stationary stand 5, then the carriage 1 returns to the position A. When the carriage 1 returns to the position A, the next full ladle 2' carried already by a crane 6 stands by. The ladle 2' is placed on the carriage 1 and the molten steel is poured into the tundish. The crane 6 carries away the empty ladle 2 on the stand 5 in the position B.
