    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high-tensile strength thick steel sheet which is excellent in the HAZ toughness in ultrahigh-heat-input welding without addition of an alloy element causing an increase in cost and has a tensile strength of 450-620 MPa and to provide a method for producing the same.SOLUTION: The thick steel sheet excellent in toughness of weld heat-affected zone is characterized in that the chemical components of the steel includes, by mass, 0.08-0.14% of C, 0.02-0.030 of Si, 1.00-1.60 of Mn, 0.001-0.030% of Al, ≤0.025% of P, ≤0.015% of S, 0.005-0.015% of Ti, 0.001-0.004% of Nb, 0.0010-0.0060% of N, and 0.0005-0.0020% of B, with the remainder comprising Fe and inevitable impurities, and the carbon equivalent Ceq satisfies 0.32≤Ceq≤0.38.
