    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electron transfer mediator modification enzyme electrode capable of obtaining high current density and stable electrode performance by covalent bonding an electron transfer mediator through a specific spacer on the surface of a conductive base material constituting an electrode, and to provide a biological fuel cell equipped with the same. SOLUTION: In the electron transfer mediator modification enzyme electrode provided with a conductive base material connected with an external circuit, an oxidoreductase capable of transferring electron with the conductive base material, and an electron transfer mediator capable of mediating electron transfer between the conductive base material and the oxidoreductase, the electron transfer mediator is covalent bonded on the surface of the conductive base material through the spacer containing at least a direct-chain structure, and the biological fuel cell is provided with the electron transfer mediator modification enzyme electrode.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an enzyme electrode capable of extracting a high-density current by immobilizing a sufficient quantity of enzyme and an electron mediator on an electrode surface in a state suitable for electron transport among enzyme, the electron mediator and the electrode; and a biofuel cell equipped with the enzyme electrode and exerting excellent power generation performance. SOLUTION: This enzyme electrode includes an electrode, the enzyme, and the electron mediator mediating electron transmission between the electrode and the enzyme. The enzyme electrode is composed by alternately stacking first charged layers containing the enzyme and the electron mediator and positively or negatively charged, and second charged layers charged in polarity reverse to that of the first charged layer on the electrode surface formed of a conductor, and is structured such that, in the first charged layer, the enzyme and the electron mediator form molecular orbits between the same organic polymer and themselves, and are chemically connected to each other.
