CONSTITUTION:In a rolling mill provided with supporting rolls 49 for supporting the roll surfaces of work rolls 43 from the side of a material to be rolled; the rolls 49 and backup rolls 48 are attached to arms 54 connected to each other by separators 54A, and the arms 54 are made slidable in the A direction along guide rails 58 of a housing 42, and both ends of vertical arms 57 turnably attached to shafts 60 are connected to hydraulic cylinders 66 and the arms 54 respectively. By these mechanisms, after positioning the rolls 49 by adjusting the projecting quantities of wedges 66 with respect to the arms 57, a desired prestress is provided to the arms 57 by driving the cylinders 64 to complete the support of rolls 49. In this way, the work rolls 43 can be surely prevented from deflecting to the inlet side of a rolling material.

    • PURPOSE:To prevent a work roll from deflecting to the horizontal direction by providing a positional servosystem constituted of a driving device, for moving a supporting roll, and a control device for positioning a position-detecting unit of supporting roll and the supporting roll to the proper positions respectively. CONSTITUTION:When a supporting-roll-5 positioning command (a) is inputted to said control device 20; a command current (b) flows through a servovalve 19, and a pressurized oil flows into a hydraulic cylinder 7 of said driving device, and then a piston 7a is moved in the arrow direction to bring the roll 5 into contact with a work roll 4. The moving amount of roll 5 is detected by a position-detecting unit 9 to input a feedback signal (c) to the device 20. The positioning of roll 5 is finished when the signal (c) coincides with the command value (a). In this way, a positional servosystem is constituted by the positioning of roll 5, and the work roll 4 is kept horizontal by the feedback mechanism even when the deflecting amount of roll 4 is changed by the change of rolling conditions, etc.

    • PURPOSE:To regulate accurately and rapidly a pass line by means of a simple construction, by detecting electrically the positions of a stepped shape rocker sheet and a wedge respectively, and positioning them automatically to proper positions respectively. CONSTITUTION:The position of a stepped shape rocker sheet 12 is detected by a rack 21 and a pinion 22 to transmit it to a detecting device 17 through sprocket wheels 27, 28. An electric signal H detected by the device 17 is compared with a set value (h) to amplify the obtained deviation DELTAh by a power amplifier 26 thereby exciting a solenoid operated changeover valve 25 to (a) or (b). And a pressurized oil is supplied to a hydraulic cylinder 16 through a pilot check valve 24 and a variable flow regulating valve 23, to move the sheet 12. When the deviation is constringed to zero; the valve 25 returns to a neutral point, the supply of the oil is stopped, and the oil in the cylinder 16 is sealed in it by the valve 24 to fix the position of the sheet 16. Next, a positioning of the wedge 11 is performed in the same manner.

    • PURPOSE:To easily form a position having gaps to respective rolls and to improve reliability and operability by supporting an upper reinforcing roll through an upper work roll chock and an upper work roll by installing a cylinder restricting a down moving amount of the upper work roll. CONSTITUTION:A cylinder 13, positioning and supporting an upper work roll chock 7 in a position which is lower than a rolling position by a min. work roll diameter and by which a gap G0 is kept between the top of a spacer rod 9 and the chock 7, is installed. Therefore, an upper reinforcing roll 4 and an upper work roll 5 are supported by the cylinder 13 through the chock 7 and the rod 9, a wheel 10, and a rail 14 are brought not to bear the weight of the upper rolls because of making gaps G1-G3 between a wedge 16, stair-type locker plate, and a locker plate 15 even when a cylinder 12 is moved downward.
