    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for control of rolling equipment, by which the effect of plate thickness control in a rolling mill is maximized within the stable range of automatic plate thickness control. SOLUTION: The rolling equipment is provided with: the rolling mill constituted of a main body and inlet and outlet side reels; an inlet side tension controller which controls tension force between the inlet side reel and the main body; and an automatic thickness controller which controls a plate thickness at the outlet side of the rolling mill. In the rolling equipment, control gain for the automatic thickness control is set (201), control gain for inlet side tension control is calculated (202), both control gains are compared and consistencies between them are checked (203), the control gain for the inlet side tension control is adjusted (206) so that the effect of the thickness control becomes maximum within the stable range of the automatic thickness control, and the stability of the inlet side tension control is checked (204), and when the stability is not obtained, the control gain for the automatic thickness control is changed (207).     • PURPOSE:To improve the control accuracy for sheet shapes and to facilitate roll changing by installing slide bearing pads and plural pushing means in the inlet and outlet sides of work rolls and controlling horizontal and vertical directions of the work rolls by pushing respective bearing pads. CONSTITUTION:Slide bearing pads 16-19 are installed in the inlet and outlet sides of work rolls 20, 21 and cylinder rods 12-15 as a pushing means are installed in plural, respectively. The pads 16-19 are pushed onto the rolls 20, 21 through plural cylinders 10, 11, 9, 8 and the rods 12-15 in accordance with rolling states of center elongation, edge elongation, or complex elongation of a rolled stock 1. A horizontal displacement of the rolls 20, 21 is correctly controlled because the rolls 20, 21 are pushed from the inlet and outlet sides by the pads 16-19 or segmented bearings. Therefore, the control accuracy for sheet shapes is improved and roll changing is facilitated by simplification of peripheral devices around the rolls.

    • PURPOSE:To reduce a crop part at the rear end of a slab and to manufacture a steel sheet in high yield by forming the rear end of the slab to be reduced in width into a shape consisting of a straight part and a slant part before reducing the width of rear end by pressing its both side faces in the sheet width direction of rear end. CONSTITUTION:In reducing the width of a slab throughout its whole length, by transporting the slab, a blank material to be hot rolled, in its longitudinal direction, and pressing both side faces in the width direction of slab by a press tool 3, having a pressing face consisting of a face 3A parallel to the side face and a slant face 3B slanted with respect to the face 3A, by periodically vibrating the tool 3 in the sheet width direction of slab; the side faces of said rear end are previously pressed by another pressing face of tool 3 consisting of a slant face 3D slanted to the slab outlet side and a face 3C parallel to the side face of slab, before reducing the width of the rear end of slab. In this way, an ordinary width reduction is provided to the slab after forming its rear end into the shape consisting of a straight part and a slant part, to reduce the quantity of a crop part and a dog bone generating at the slab rear-end thereby improving the yield in steel sheet manufacturing.

    • PURPOSE: To improve the capacity of shape control of sheet and to obtain a steel strip excellent in the shape of sheet in a rolling mill and rolling method. CONSTITUTION: Work rolls 2, 3 and intermediate rolls 4, 5 are movable in the axial directions of the respective rolls. The work rolls 2, 3 have taper-shaped roll shoulders 2A, 3A in the position in the end parts of roll where are point- symmetrical to the center of width of the steel strip 1 as to the upper and lower rolls, and the intermediate rolls 4, 5 have taper-shaped roll shoulders 4A, 5A in the positions where are point-symmetrical to the center in the width of the steel strip 1 and in point-symmetrical positions on the opposite sides of the roll shoulders 2A, 3A of the work rolls 2, 3 as to the upper and lower rolls. Moments and bending forces in mutually opposite directions are imparted by one roll in both end parts of these work rolls 2, 3 and intermediate rolls 4, 5.
