    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve problems that it is difficult to retain and fix a spacing retaining member (henceforth spacer) arranged in a display region between the front face substrate and the rear face substrate in a state without having position shift or tilt, that the spacer is damaged and damages are generated on an electrode or the like due to the damaged spacer, and furthermore that an airtight-sealed part has a possibility of having a crack, a leak or the like by adding a fixing process of the spacer, in a display device utilizing an electron emission to a vacuum formed between the front face substrate and the rear face substrate.
      SOLUTION: In the display device which has the front face substrate 1 to possess a metal back (positive electrode) 62 and a phosphor film 61 on the inner face, the rear face substrate 2 to possess a negative electrode wiring 51 and an electron source 52 formed on this negative electrode wiring 51, a support 3 to be inserted by going around the display region and to form a prescribed inner space between both substrates 1, 2, and a plurality of spacing retaining members 4 arranged in the display region surrounded by this support 3 and fixed to both substrates 1, 2, and in which both substrates 1, 2 are air-tight sealed via a sealing material 10, the spacing retaining member 4 is fixed via a fixing material containing a substance having hysteresis characteristics. By this, the space retaining member 4 is precisely fixed and arranged at a desired position, and the display device with a high quality display is realized.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a display device with high reliability of which, the gap between negative electrode wirings and control electrodes is made uniform, and the control electrodes to which, a tension is added, are sufficiently fixed to a rear base board 1 without damaging the vacuum sealing between a front base board and itself.
      SOLUTION: The display device comprises a back panel 100 having a plurality of negative electrode wirings 2 having an electron source, and a plurality of control electrodes 4 controlling the electron emission volume of the electron source by crossing the negative electrode wirings, depending on the potential difference; a front panel having a positive electrode and phosphor; and a sealing frame 300 interposed between the peripheral rim of the front panel and the back panel so as to stick and fix both panels with a prescribed distance. The control electrodes 4 are belt-shaped members having one or a plurality of holes through which, the electron emitted from the electron source passes toward the area at front panel side where the control electrodes 4 cross the negative electrode wirings 2. Fixing areas of the control electrodes 4 at both end parts are fixed to the back panel 100 by an adhesive agent. The size of the fixing area, in the vicinity of both end parts per unit length in the longitudinal direction of the control electrode 4, is smaller than the size of the area where the control electrode 4 crosses the negative electrode wiring, per unit length in the longitudinal direction of the area.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize electrical resistance of a spacer which keeps a space between an anode board and a cathode board against an atmospheric pressure.
      SOLUTION: A spacer 4 is formed of glass and has a slight electrical conductivity. In order to stabilize resistance of the spacer 4, conductive particles 100 are coated on the surface of the spacer 4, forming a uniform irregularity on the surface of the spacer 4. Uniform particles are required to be coated to form the uniform irregularity. To form uniform particles, fine particles are made secondary particles having uniform diameters with a cyclone collecting machine, and then the secondary particles are dispersed in such solvent as alcohol to form a sol which is coated on the spacer 4. Since uniform particles are coated on the spacer surface, the resistance of the spacer 4 is stabilized, while releasing of secondary electrons from the spacer 4 is suppressed and dispersing of heat from the spacer 4 is promoted.
