      SOLUTION: This electron emission display device is characterized by including: an electron emission substrate 100 on which one or more electron emission devices 160 arranged thereon and auxiliary electrodes 180 are formed in parts excluding formation areas of the electron emission device(s) 160; an image forming substrate 200 with image implementing parts corresponding to the electron emission elements 160 formed thereon; and low-resistance spacers 320 formed between the electron emission substrate 100 and the image forming substrate 200 so as to separate the auxiliary electrodes 180 from the image forming substrate 200 and formed by adding a conductive substance therein.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spacer hardly deteriorated by heat received in manufacturing processes of an image display device, and to provide an image display device with the spacer.
      SOLUTION: In the image display device with a cathode substrate with an electron source, an anode substrate with a phosphor emitting light by receiving electron emitted from the electron source, and a spacer arranged between the cathode substrate and the anode substrate for supporting the both substrates, the spacer is structured with one equipped with a coating made of complex metal oxide consisting of metal oxide having electric conductivity like a semiconductor and metal oxide having electric conductivity like an insulator. The spacer with the complex metal oxide coating hardly suffers from degradation such as a glass component evaporating, even if it is heated in a manufacturing process of the image display device, hence, a superb image can be obtained.
