    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal television easy to use without impairing installation or interior by laying round an antenna wire. SOLUTION: In a television receiver, the tuner part and the monitor part are separated, video and audio signals are transmitted from the tuner part to the monitor part, and control data are exchanged between the tuner part and the monitor part to eliminate the deviation of both operating states. Thus, the antenna wire is connected to the separated tuner part for tuning, and tuned video and audio signals are transmitted to the monitor part in a wireless manner to reproduce the video and audio signals. • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To display a dynamic image by a bright and powerful image plane, even when a color temperature setting of a display reference white color is changed, and to enable selection between a display in which a white balance of a display element is given priority and a display in which a luminance is given priority. SOLUTION: An analog picture signal inputted from a signal source 8 is digitally converted by an A/D converter 1, and inputted into a lookup table 2 by which a white balance is given priority in a low-luminance region and a luminance is given priority in a high-luminance region. A reference top voltage of the A/D converter 1 is changed over corresponding to the data from an adjusting button 7, to thereby change output signal data, and the maximum value is controlled so that it will fall in the data range where a white balance is given priority by the lookup table 2, and consequently, a display having a low luminance but an excellent white balance can be obtained. In case that the maximum value is controlled so that it will fall in the data range where a luminance is given priority, a display having a disordered white balance but a high luminance can be obtained.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make luminance levels of respective cores constant by fetching reference voltage signal in video signal and performing feedback control so that these reference signal levels are matched with each other in respective cores thereby absorbing variation of ABL control characteristics as a system. SOLUTION: Reference voltage inserting circuits 3a-3d insert reference voltages in overscanning periods of video signal to be inputted to contrast and/or luminance control circuits 11. A comparator circuit 2 compares reference voltages inserted in the video signals of respective cores to output the compared results. An comparator circuit for ABL 6 compares ABL control information of the respective cores and selects the core showing the maximum beam current value to output the ABL information of the core indicating the maximum beam current value and also controls switches 50 of respective cores. That is, the continuity of luminances at boundaries of respective cores is obtained by suppressing luminance variations due to the variations of the ABL control characteristics of respective cores by the feedback control of the comparator circuit 2.
