摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To take in and process video data and program guide information, which are take out from input data encoded by a broadcasting variable encoding format.SOLUTION: An antenna 15 receives digital bit stream showing video information which is encoded by one of a plurality of different formats and transmitted by one of the plurality of transmission channels. Processors 17, 55, 20, 25, 30 and 50 identify and take out program guide information including a plurality of channel maps. The channel map associates video channel output with the transmission channel, and associates the encoding format with the transmission channel. Adaptive decoders 35, 40 and 45 decode the bit stream and supply the video channel output in response to the program guide information.

摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering the data content of a storage medium containing a plurality of programs consisting of packetized data.SOLUTION: A storage medium format includes packet identifiers (PIDs) that identify individual packetized datastreams constituting a program. The PIDs include a base PID for identifying one datastream and a second PID of predetermined offset value to the base PID for identifying a second datastream. The storage medium format also includes program specific information (PSI) suitable for use in demodulating the data content of a program. The PSI includes an MPEG-like program map table and an MPEG-like program association table and incorporates a parameter suitable for commanding a decoder to apply the PSI in decoding the program irrespective of the previous PSI content.

A digital watermark detection method includes a step of sequentially obtaining a frame image; a step of generating a difference image between the currently obtained frame image and a previously obtained frame image; and a step of performing digital watermark detection from the difference image to output digital watermark detection status, and when digital watermark detection process is continued, obtaining a new frame again to repeat the above processes.

摘要： Available storage media capacity for personal video recording increases continuously. metadata can be used to organize the recordings, search for content and access specific recordings. If metadata are embedded within the multimedia content itself, like DVB specific Service Information, which are multiplexed with the audio and video streams to form a MPEG-2 transport stream, a search based on this metadata would require an inefficient and time consuming search through all multimedia content stored. According to the invention metadata information is gathered, analyzed and processed to form metadata entities, which are amended by a reference to the content itself. A descriptor stream (DS) is formed from the resulting pairs of metadata entities and references to the content and is stored separately from the files comprising multimedia content. In this way, for data of an MPEG-2 transport stream the metadata can be accessed without a need to reparse the entire stream.
