    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To develop an optical connector which can easily remove a coating of an insertion optical fiber by a coating removal portion.SOLUTION: An optical connector includes: a base member and an opening guide which form a guiding structure for guiding a tip end portion of an insertion optical fiber in a closed state; a coating removal member 30 having a coating removal portion for removing the coating of the tip end portion of the insertion optical fiber guided to move forward by the guiding structure; and a clamp portion capable of gripping and fixing an abutting portion of a bare optical fiber from which the coating is removed and a built-in optical fiber built in a ferrule. The coating removal portion 31 is protrusively provided with platy blade portions 31b equally at plural places in a circumferential direction, on an outer periphery of an annular blade portion 31a tapering down from a front end side to a rear end side.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily remove a coating of an insertion optical fiber by a coating removal portion.SOLUTION: A tip end portion of an insertion optical fiber 1 is clipped between guiding portions 26 and 50a of a first base member 51 and a first cover member 58, and moved forward while deflection is regulated. A coating 2 of the tip end portion of the insertion optical fiber 1 is removed by a coating removal portion 31. While a bare optical fiber 3 from which the coating 2 is removed abuts on a built-in optical fiber 12 of a ferrule 10, an opening guide 50 is moved to form a space on the guiding portion 26 of the first base member 51, and the insertion optical fiber 1 is deflection-deformed by first deflection width 4 in the space. An abutting portion P of the optical fibers 3 and 12 is gripped and fixed by a clamp portion 20. An optical fiber retaining portion 59 is moved so as to further form a space on the guiding portion 26 of the first base member 51, and the insertion optical fiber 1 is deflection-deformed by second deflection width 7 larger than the first deflection width.

      SOLUTION: The optical connector includes a connector main body 1 having an optical fiber 34 for connection previously incorporated in a ferrule, having a joint end surface 32 atop, to project from a rear end of the ferrule 3; and an anchor 5 which has an anchor groove 53 for anchoring another optical fiber F to optically be connected to the part 34b of the optical fiber 34 for connection projecting from the rear end of the ferrule 3 and is detachably fitted to the connector main body 1. Further, the optical connector is provided with a housing 23 for detachably fitting the anchor 5 to a rear part of the connector main body 1 in a raised posture. One of the anchor 5 and housing 23 includes a projection 50 and the other has a guide groove 68 for guiding the projection 50 to guide the anchor 5 to a fixation position of the housing 23.
