    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical connector that prevents a coated optical fiber from breaking, by averting concentration of stress from a boundary corresponding to the difference in level of the inner coating of the coated optical fiber.
      SOLUTION: The optical connector 1 is equipped with a connector housing 21 having a built-in splice assembly 13 and an end cap 5 mounted on one end of the connector housing 21 from which a coated optical fiber 3 is drawn. Inside the connector housing 21, there is situated a boundary 4c between a part in which the inner layer 4a of the inner coating 4 is left with the outer layer 4b removed and a part in which the outer layer 4b of the inner coating 4 is unremoved in the coated optical fiber 3. Inside the end cap 5, a tubular part is prepared having an insertion hole which is roughly coaxial with the drawing hole 18a for drawing the coated optical fiber 3 from the connector housing 21 and which is for putting through the coated optical fiber 3. In the extension part which is on the tip end side of the tubular part and formed extendedly to the boundary 4c, there is provided a deflection controlling hole which is in communication with the insertion hole and which controls deflection of the boundary 4c.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent occurrence of disconnection or excess bend of optical fibers between a mechanical splice and holders due to expansion/contraction of the optical fibers in a state where the optical fibers are permanently connected to each other.SOLUTION: An optical transmission line connection device 10 includes: a mechanical splice 40 capable of connecting a pair of optical fibers to each other; a pair of holders 42 holding a pair of coated optical fiber housing members; a splice support 44 supporting the mechanical splice in a prescribed position; a pair of holder supports 46 supporting the holders in prescribed positions; and a pair of bend forming parts 84 bending intermediate portions extending between the mechanical splice and the holders, of terminal regions of the pair of coated optical fibers in a prescribed bend range in a connection preparation state. Each bend forming part 84 includes a first movable member 86 movable between an action position where the first movable member is brought into contact with the intermediate portion of each coated optical fiber to bend the intermediate portion minimally in the prescribed bend range and a non-action position where the first movable member is not brought into contact with the intermediate portion of the coated optical fiber.

    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a housing from being detached from a supporting member without using a separate component in an optical connector with the housing to be attached to the supporting member for supporting a ferrule. SOLUTION: The optical connector 10 is equipped with a supporting member 14 that holds a ferrule 12 with an elastic member 16 interposed and a housing 18 that is mounted on the supporting member with a pressing force generated in the elastic member. The housing includes a deflection region 56 that makes local expansion possible for a space 42 for storing the ferrule and an engaging section 58 that is formed in the deflection region and that can engage with a projection 32 of the supporting member. The engaging section is composed of a first opening 60 that loosely accepts the projection to allow relative displacement in the circumferential direction between the engaging section and the projection, and composed of a second opening 62 that is adjacent to and communicated with the first opening and that closely accepts the projection to prevent the relative displacement in the circumferential direction between the engaging section and the projection. When the housing is mounted on the supporting member, the projection is forcedly accepted and held in the second opening of the engaging section under the pressing force of the elastic member.
