摘要： PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize particulate matter (PM) purification by compensating deviation between an estimated deposit amount and an actual deposit amount in burning PM deposited in an exhaust emission control device for an engine. SOLUTION: When the estimated deposit amount of PM is PMsm≤BUpm (Yes in S122), a correction execution reference value Dp is obtained from a correction execution reference value map MAPdp(GA) (S126) to determine the value of exhaust pressure difference ΔP/GA (S128). In the case of ΔP/GA≥Dp (Yes in S128), a state of having deviation between the estimated deposit amount PMsm and the actual deposit amount is determined, and PMsm is increase-corrected with an increase correction amount PMadd (S132) obtained from an increase correction amount map MAPadd(ΔP/GA) (S134). The estimated deposit amount PMsm can thus be brought close to or coincide with the actual deposit amount with high accuracy. SOLUTION: When an estimated PM sedimentation quantity around a catalyst is permissible value or more, PM regeneration control for burning and removing PM sedimented around a catalyst is executed. When the PM regeneration control is interrupted and brought into a workable condition thereafter, the PM regeneration control is resumed even though the PM sedimentation quantity is less than the permissible value. By resuming the PM regeneration control, the PM sedimented around a catalyst can be burned up until the control is completed. When the PM is burned up to complete the PM regeneration control, the estimated PM sedimentation quantity is set at '0' to eliminate the error between the PM sedimentation quantity and the actual sedimentation quantity.
