    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a system for changing ice adhesion strength of ice adhering to an object. SOLUTION: This system includes an electrode electrically insulated from the object, and a D.C. source such as a battery connected to the object and the electrode. The D.C. source generates D.C. bias on an interface between ice and the object when the ice completes a circuit. The object is conductive or doped as a semiconductor. Thereby, the D.C. bias applies a voltage for selectively changing the ice adhesion strength as compared with the ice adhesion strength in the case where the bias voltage on the interface is substantially zero. The strength can be increased or decreased in relation to its static state (that is, a state without application voltage). In this embodiment, ice such as ice on a wing of an aircraft can be removed with relatively small work.
