    • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airbag device for knee protection capable of mounting a lead wire of an inflater on a vehicle while avoiding interference with a peripheral apparatus such as a steering column. SOLUTION: This airbag device for knee protection is provided with a case 17 for housing an airbag 50 and the inflater 44 of which vehicle rear side is opened. The case 17 is equipped with a peripheral wall 19 around the aperture, and a bottom wall 20 closing the peripheral wall 19 on the vehicle front side. An end of the inflater 44 along the axial direction is protruded from the case 17, and a connector to which the lead wire 48 connected to an airbag operation circuit and arranged across the case 17 along the lateral direction is connected to the end. The lead wire 48 is fitted and arranged by a fitting member 27 arranged from the case 17 side in a position wherein the portion 48a across the case 17 is near the bottom wall part 20 under an upper surface side of the peripheral wall 19.     • PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a knee protection airbag apparatus capable of stably protecting the knees of an passenger even when the shin of the passenger interferes with an inflated air bag. SOLUTION: A knee protection airbag apparatus has an airbag 44 having a construction in which folded and accommodated below the area in front of the knees K of the passenger MD who is seated, and deploys and inflates upward toward the rear of the vehicle so as to be capable of protecting the knees K of the passenger MD, when an inflating gas is inserted. The airbag 44 includes a knee protection inflation portion 48 which is disposed on the upper side after completion of inflation and which is capable of protecting both knees K of the passenger MD, and a shin facing portion 50 disposed in an area extending substantially vertically so as to be at the position L of both shins of the passenger MD when both knees K of the passenger MD interfere with the knee protection inflation portion 48. In the shin facing portion 50, the thickness dimension after completion of inflation is set smaller than that of the knee protection inflation portion 48 after completion of inflation.
