    • PURPOSE:To make it possible for a drive motor to realize highly accurate constant speed driving by providing a stator and a rotor with the same structure as those of a hybrid permanent magnet type stepping motor, and by controlling the energization of the stator and rotor on the basis of a current pattern obtained by a phase of a current which offsets detent torque. CONSTITUTION:A scanning motor 18 is provided with a stator 24 and a rotor 27 which are similar to those of a hybrid permanent magnet type stepping motor. When carriages 5 and 8 reciprocally travel, a phase synthesizing circuit 51 corrects the phase of a current by the composition of the fundamental phase of a current from a fundamental phase generation circuit 48 and a corrected phase difference data DELTAtheta from a phase difference circuit 49. The energization of a phase-A coil 26A and a phase-B coil 26B of the coil 26 is controlled using a current pattern based on this corrected phase. Thereby, a detent component caused by magnetic unbalance between the rotor 27 and the stator 24 can be canceled. Hence, uneven rotations of the rotor 27 caused by a detent component can be eliminated.
