摘要： A self-energising brake assembly, particularly for braking a drive shaft of a heavy tracked vehicle such as a tank, has a pair of discs (26, 27) carrying friction pads (12) borne to rotate with the shaft. These friction discs are located to either side of a central non-rotating water-cooled disc assembly (9). A control brake disc (13) is also borne to rotate with the shaft but capable of turning relative to the same via a ball screw assembly (32). To apply the brake the control disc (13) is retarded relative to the shaft by means of an associated calliper (not shown), which causes relative axial movement between the inner and outer rings (35, 36) of the ball screw. This movement drives the friction disc (27) axially along the shaft, on a ball spline (29-31) , towards the friction disc (26), thus clamping the non-rotating disc (9) between the two friction discs and braking the shaft.

摘要： An adjustable fluid cooled brake is provided that integrates the driven shaft (12) and bearings (50, 52) with braking components to form a packaged assembly. The brake further includes a housing (18) disposed about the shaft and friction plates (20, 22) coupled to the housing and driven shaft. One end cap assembly (26) of the brake is coupled to the housing and supports one of the bearings. The end cap assembly includes a pressure plate (152) configured to compress the friction plates. Another end cap assembly (24) is coupled to the housing and supports the other bearing. One of end cap assemblies is spaced from the housing by a spacer (28) that may be adjusted to enable axial movement of the end cap assembly relative to the housing and the corresponding bearing thereby permitting adjustment of the brake.

摘要： A bicycle disc brake caliper (21) is provided with a cooling system (20) that transfers heat away from the actuating fluid. Basically, the bicycle disc brake caliper (21) has a housing and a piston unit, with a coolant member (24) of the cooling system (20) attached to the housing. The housing has a frame mounting member sized to be coupled to a portion of a bicycle frame (14). The piston unit is movably coupled to the housing between a release position, in which the piston unit is spaced from a brake disc (22) mounted to a wheel (17) of a bicycle (10), and a braking position, in which the piston unit engages the brake disc (22) of the bicycle wheel (17). The coolant member (24) has a coolant area for receiving coolant to create a coolant heat sink that transfers heat from the housing. The housing has an actuating passage in fluid communication with the piston unit to move the piston unit via an actuating fluid. In one embodiment, the cooling sytem includes a pump (25) and a reservoir (26). In another embodiment, a coolant or water bottle is attached to the coolant member for manually ading coolant thereto. In another embodiment, the coolant member is filled with a high specific heat gel.
