    • The present invention relates to a backing plate for brake pad of a disc brake for vehicles, used preferably used in commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, trailers and semi-trailers, relating particularly to a new arrangement in the constructive form of the backing plate (1) of the brake pad which comprising a hollow cast iron metal structure provided with structural reinforcements (5) in the area of contact of the pistons of the brake system. Combined with the filling of its empty areas with a polymeric matrix composite material (2), the invention provides a brake pad with significant improvements in its performance without changing the characteristics related to mechanical strength, even under the most severe conditions of use of the vehicles.

    • A friction interface unit for use with a clutch, a brake or a clutch-brake including a hub adapted to receive a shaft, the hub (12) having an annular friction flange (18) extending radially therefrom together with a first housing portion (38) having a cylindrical hollow base portion (40). Bearings (28, 32) are interposed between and in radial alignment with the hub (12) and the hollow base portion (40) of the first housing portion (38). The hollow base portion (40) has a series of spaced threaded holes (56) extending axially therein adapted to receive bolts associated with a sheave or an anchor mount for a brake. The first housing portion has a radially extended annular wall (42) terminating in a right angular flange portion (44).
      A second housing portion (66) is provided which has a central circular portion (68) and an annular flange portion (70) terminating in a right angular flange portion (72) coextensive with the first-mentioned right angular flange portion (44) and is bolted thereto. Also included is an annular piston (82) having an annular flange (86) extended over said central circular portion (68) to form a cylinder. The second housing portion (66) carries a series of spaced torque pins (96) on which the annular piston is slideably mounted. The central circular portion (68) of the second housing portion has a rotary air union (110) mounted thereon and in communication with the cylinder for introducing fluid pressure into the cylinder.
