    • A disc brake includes a caliper housing 26, a pair of friction members, and a piston. The caliper housing 26 includes a support portion 32 and a cylinder portion 34 coupled to the support portion 32. The cylinder portion 34 has a piston chamber 56 with a fluid inlet opening 57. The cylinder portion 34 is an independent component from the support portion 32. Preferably, the caliper housing 26 includes parts constructed of deformed sheet material such as press formed sheet metal. The parts are preferably fixedly coupled together by welding, brazing and bolts. The friction members are coupled to the caliper housing 26 to form a rotor slot. The piston is mounted in the piston chamber 56 to move one friction member between a release position and a braking position. In one embodiment, an integrated mounting member and a flanged cylinder is provided. In another embodiment, a pair of flanged cylinders with a pair of movable pistons is provided.

    • A bicycle disc brake caliper (21) is provided with a cooling system (20) that transfers heat away from the actuating fluid. Basically, the bicycle disc brake caliper (21) has a housing and a piston unit, with a coolant member (24) of the cooling system (20) attached to the housing. The housing has a frame mounting member sized to be coupled to a portion of a bicycle frame (14). The piston unit is movably coupled to the housing between a release position, in which the piston unit is spaced from a brake disc (22) mounted to a wheel (17) of a bicycle (10), and a braking position, in which the piston unit engages the brake disc (22) of the bicycle wheel (17). The coolant member (24) has a coolant area for receiving coolant to create a coolant heat sink that transfers heat from the housing. The housing has an actuating passage in fluid communication with the piston unit to move the piston unit via an actuating fluid. In one embodiment, the cooling sytem includes a pump (25) and a reservoir (26). In another embodiment, a coolant or water bottle is attached to the coolant member for manually ading coolant thereto. In another embodiment, the coolant member is filled with a high specific heat gel.

    • A bicycle freewheel includes an outer cylinder part (45), an inner cylinder part (46) disposed radially inwardly of the outer cylinder part so that the inner cylinder part is capable of rotation relative to the outer cylinder part, and a one-way transmission (47) disposed between the outer cylinder part (45) and the inner cylinder part (46). The one-way transmission (47) engages the inner surface of the outer cylinder part and transmits rotation between the outer cylinder part and the inner cylinder part in only one direction. The outer cylinder part includes inner and outer surfaces. The outer surface is shaped with outer concave portions and outer convex portions for supporting a plurality of gears (26) so that the gears do not rotate relative to the outer cylinder part. The inner surface is shaped with inner concave portions and inner convex portions, wherein the outer concave portions on the outer surface form the inner convex portions of the inner surface. A thickness of at least one of the outer cylinder part (45) or the inner cylinder part (46) is substantially uniform.
