    • The invention relates to a transmission device (3) comprising at least two multi-speed transmission groups (5, 7) arranged one behind the other. A torque of a transmission input shaft (6) can be introduced via said shaft into one of the transmission groups (5) and supplied to the other transmission group (7) via a main transmission shaft (10). The transmission input shaft (6) can be directly connected at least temporarily to the main transmission shaft (10) by means of a load shifting element (4) during a ratio change from an actual gear to a target gear to achieve an intermediate gear. An electrical machine (9) can introduce a torque into the shafts (6, 10) that are interconnected by means of the load shifting element (4) at least when the intermediate gear is selected. The invention also relates to a method for operating a transmission device (3) of this type during the shifting process. According to said method, a torque generated by the electrical machine (9) and rectified to a torque of the transmission input shaft (6) is introduced into the shafts (6, 10) that are interconnected by means of the load shifting element (4) and the transmission capability of the load shifting element (4) is increased in order to match the speed of the transmission input shaft (6) to the speed of the target gear. A shifting element provided to achieve the target gear is then closed in the first transmission group (5), the load shifting element (4) is opened and the torque of the electrical machine (9) is reduced to at least approximately zero, when the speed of the transmission input shaft (6) at least approximately corresponds to the speed of the target gear.
