    • Technologies are generally described herein for lenticular directional displays having an image source layer and a directional layer. A control system can be configured to execute various methods for obtaining first content and second content, the first content being associated with a first viewpoint and the second content being associated with a second viewpoint. The control system can also display the first content and the second content at the image source layer adjacent to the directional layer such that the first content is visible at the first viewpoint and the second content is visible at the second viewpoint. The control system can determine that the first viewpoint or the second viewpoint has changed relative to the display, and modify at least one of the first content or the second content in response to determining that the first viewpoint or the second viewpoint has changed.

    • The present invention discloses a stereoscopic display employing polarized eyewear. The basic component of the present invention stereoscopic display is a stereopolarizer, which is a polarized screen comprising microscopic sections of mutually extinguishing polarizing filters dispersed throughout the screen. To achieve the proper resolution, the size of the microscopic polarizing filter needs to be in order of micrometer, from a few microns to a few hundred of microns. The arrangement of the microscopic polarizing filters can be alternating stripes in horizontal, vertical, or any arbitrarily direction. The microscopic polarizing filters can be arranged in alternating pattern, such as alternating square or circle. The polarizer screen can be one sheet or can be a composite sheet, comprising two distinct polarizer filter sheet laminated together. Laser drilling is used to fabricate the microscopic polarizing filters, primarily due to ease of operation and appropriate microscopic sizes. Further, laser drilling and cutting can form angle holes in the stereopolarizer (91), which provides optimum focus viewing for horizontal perspective display.

    • A video recording system (522) is responsive to an automotive controls system. The video recording system (522) includes a video camera, capable of capturing either still photos or video footage. The video camera may be integral to the interior of a vehicle, for example in a navigation unit, or may be coupled to a detachable electronic device like a cellular telephone (528). The video recording system (522) communicates with the controls system by either hard wire link or wireless link (526). The controls system includes one or more sensors capable of detecting when a collision has occurred. One such sensor is an airbag deployment sensor. When the controls system detects that a collision has occurred, it sends an actuation signal to the video recording system, thereby causing the video recording system to begin capturing either photos or video footage. This video footage may then be stored locally or transmitted to a remote server In one application, the video footage may be used by emergency personnel (536) to determine the conditions inside the vehicle immediately following an accident.

    • The invention provides for automatic monitoring and control of the ingress and egress of vehicles to and from various areas within a secure facility. A plurality of cameras, such as infrared-sensitive cameras, capture images of license plates and/or optically readable passive tags on vehicles traveling into and within the facility. A video image processing system detects and extracts a vehicle license plate number (LPN) or other such identifying characters within the captured image of the license plate. Based at least in part on the location of the camera that captured the LPN, the processor stores the LPN with a time-stamp in one or more vehicle databases, such as a site LPN database, an in-transit database, an employee database, an expected visitor database, a "blacklist" database, a loiterer database, a speeder database, a high-security database, a high-security parking lot database, a normal security parking lot database and a visitor parking lot database. Also, depending at least in part on the location of the camera that captured the LPN and whether the vehicle's LPN is listed in one or more of the above-listed databases, the processor controls the actuation of various barriers or like devices to allow ingress to and egress from various restricted areas within the facility. The processor also preferably controls information posted on various terminals in the site, such as a Security Portal terminal and a parking lot pay booth terminal, and on variable messaging signs at various locations within the facility.
