摘要： The invention relates to a method for forming a telescoped multiwall nanotube. Such a telescoped multiwall nanotube may find use as a linear or rotational bearing in microelectromechanical systems or may find use as a constant force nanospring. In the method of the invention, a multiwall nanotube is affixed to a solid, conducting substrate at one end. The tip of the free end of the multiwall nanotube is then removed, revealing the intact end of the inner wall. A nanomanipulator is then attached to the intact end, and the intact, core segments of the multiwall nanotube are partially extracted, thereby telescoping out a segment of nanotube.

The tape has a strip-form base (82) having two broad, opposite surfaces (81, 83), with an array of fastener elements extending from one of the surfaces (82). The base defines tear regions (50) of reduced tear strength formed at spaced intervals along the length, the spaced intervals define individual fastener straps and each fastener strap defines an associated, engageable formation (52, 52'). The detent engages the formation of a trailing strap as a leading strap is pulled through the outlet, acting to resist movement of the trailing strap so that the leading strap parts from the trailing strap at a tear region when a sufficient parting tension is applied to the leading strap.

摘要： A dispenser (10, 200) for cutting and feeding a web (W) of flexible sheet material is described in which a feed roller (30, 212) carries a web cutting blade (40, 226) and a spring (104, 290) connected to an eccentric crank (102, 288) affixed to the feed roller (30, 212). While initial movement of the web (W) through the mechanism and actuation of the cutter (40, 226) to effect partial separation of the web material (W) is produced by the user's pull on the web (W), such pull also loads the spring (104, 290) which, upon unloading, delivers the cut web material from the dispenser (10, 200). The spring (104, 290), following arresting rotation of the feed roll (30, 212) and exhaust of stored energy, operates, upon continued pulling of the web (W), to impart gradually increasing stress on the uncut web segments until they break, whereupon the uncut segments of web material (W) are efficaciously severed and the leading end (WE) of the succeeding web material is automatically positioned where it can be readily grasped by a subsequent user.

摘要： In a device for issuing web sections from a roll, the metering roller (1) has a frictional coating (2) and has on the frontal surfaces (43) a spiral guide (3) to actuate a slide (6). The slide (6) has a blade (12) and is held in the spiral guide (3) by a return spring (15). The control device senses the presence of a user to activate the feed mechanism, controls the amount of material which is dispensed from the housing for any one cycle, and prevents further dispensing of the paper until the previous segment is separated from the roll.
