    • An active noise reduction earphone includes a speaker, a plurality of microphones and a feedback system. Each microphone is displaced from the speaker and the other microphones, and each microphone generates a microphone signal responsive to received acoustic noise. The feedback system receives a combination of the microphone signals and generates an inverse noise signal that is applied to the speaker. The speaker generates an inverse acoustic noise signal that substantially cancels the acoustic noise signal at a predetermined location relative to the speaker and the microphones. The feedback system can include a microphone signal combiner in communication with the microphones. The microphone signal combiner generates a signal that may be a sum or weighted sum of the microphone signals and can be used to generate the inverse noise signal. The earphone has an increased noise reduction bandwidth and improved cancellation capability relative to conventional earphones.

    • Systems and methods for active noise cancellation are provided. An example method includes receiving at least two reference signals associated with at least two reference positions. Each of the at least two reference signals includes at least one captured acoustic sound representing an unwanted noise. The reference signals are filtered by individual filters to obtain filtered signals. The filtered signals are combined to obtain a feedforward signal. The feedforward signal is played back to reduce the unwanted noise at a pre-determined space location. The individual filters are determined based on linear combinations of at least two transfer functions. Each of the at least two transfer functions is associated with one of the reference positions. In certain embodiments, the at least two reference signals are captured by at least two feedforward microphones.

    • A noise cancellation method and system comprises a system controller that produces a command signal in response to a signal from at least one microphone detecting sound in an area. The system controller includes an arrayed speaker controller for producing a driver signal for each speaker in response to the command signal such that combined sound emitted by the speakers in response to the driver signals produces a substantially uniform sound pressure field adapted to attenuate a noise field corresponding to the sound detected by the at least one microphone. The system controller includes an in-phase speaker controller for producing a common in-phase driver signal for all speakers in response to the command signal and a signal director module for proportioning the command signal between the arrayed and in-phase speaker controllers in response to a magnitude of voltage associated with driving the speakers in accordance with the command signal.

    • The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for reducing the sound caused by a sound source (13) by using an antiphase sound produced by an antiphase sound source(2, 2a).
