    • The invention relates to an arrangement and a method for reducing the sound caused by a sound source (13) by using an antiphase sound produced by an antiphase sound source(2, 2a). According to the invention, on the basis of a frequency analysis of the sound radiated by the sound source, the distance from the sound source to the antiphase sound source is shorter than half the wavelength in respect of a wavelength that is provided in a particular frequency range of the radiated sound, preferably in respect of the shortest wavelength in the frequency range, and wherein two or more microphones (4, 6) are provided, wherein the microphones are arranged closer to the sound source than to the antiphase sound source, preferably in a shared dividing plane that preferably runs perpendicular to a connecting line between the sound source and the antiphase sound source and, with further preference, at the same distance from the sound source and the antiphase sound source, but at any rate in relation to an arrangement plane that has said connecting line as a generatrix and in which at least one of the microphones is arranged such that the microphones, in relation to the arrangement plane, are arranged opposite the connecting line, wherein if one of the microphones is not situated on the arrangement plane, the position thereof in relation to the connecting line needs to be checked by assuming a perpendicular projection from this microphone onto the arrangement plane.
