摘要： A refrigeration chiller (10) employs a centrifugal compressor (12) the impellers (42, 44) of which are mounted on a shaft (48) which it itself mounted for rotation using rolling element (53) bearings (52) lubricated only by the refrigerant which constitutes the working fluid of the chiller system (10). Apparatus is taught for providing liquid refrigerant to (1.) the bearings (25) immediately upon chiller start-up, during chiller operation and during a coastdown period subsequent to shutdown of the chiller (10) and (2.) the drive motor (40) of the chiller's compressor (12) for motor cooling purposes. By use of a variable speed-driven motor (40) to drive the compressor (12), optimized part load chiller performance is achieved in a chiller which does not require or employ an oil-based lubrification system.

摘要： A rotatable assembly for use with a gas turbine engine comprises a rotatable disk (29), and a plurality of blades (24) for affecting a flow of air passing thereover during use. The blades (24) are attached to the rotatable disk (29), and each one of the plurality of blades has a blade root and a blade tip (25) disposed opposite said blade root. A first ring (30) is disposed adjacent a first portion of each of the blade tips (25), the first ring (30) being in interfering contact with the first portion of each blade tip (25) when the rotatable disk is stationary. The interfering contact is preferably between about 0.01 inches and about 0.1 inches. The first ring can be provided over a portion of the blade tips or can extend from about the leading edge of each blade to about its trailing edge.
