    • A vehicle security system includes at least one vehicle sensor, a remote transmitter to be carried by a user, and a controller positioned in the vehicle and being switchable to at least one of an armed mode and a disarmed mode based upon the remote transmitter, and the controller causes a light indicator circuit of the vehicle to selectively supply power to at least one vehicle light bulb upon switching to at least one of the armed and disarmed modes The vehicle security system also include a strobe light device at the vehicle and electrically connected to the light indicator circuit for providing a confirmation indication to the user that the controller has been switched to at least one of the armed and disarmed modes. This may be done based upon a leading or trailing edge of the power supplied by the light indicator circuit.

    • The invention relates to an anti-theft system of a motor vehicle comprising a device for deactivating the vehicle (34, 35) and comprising a theft detection device (1, 2) via which an unauthorized initial operation of the motor vehicle can be determined, and the deactivation device (34, 35) can be actuated.     • A vehicle alarm comprises a control unit (2) coupled to a message centre (22) and an ultrasonic movement sensor (20). The movement sensor (20) is automatically activated when the vehicle ignition is switched off. If movement is not detected in the time period between switching the ignition off and the driver's door being closed, then the movement sensor (20) is deemed to have failed. A count of such failures is kept and when a predetermined number of such failures has occurred, a warning message is displayed on the message centre (22). If movement is detected in the time period, the count is reset to zero. In this way, the alarm can automatically determine whether or not the ultrasonic movement sensor (20) is functioning correctly.
