摘要： The present invention relates to a geometrically transformable vacuum assisted resin infusion casting mould for producing an infusion-moulded reinforced composite article. The mould comprises at least two movable mould walls (10, 11, 12) defining a mould space (14) and an opening to the mould space. A vacuum bag (15) is sealable to the mould and it forms a vacuum space (17) with the mould when sealed. A means for introducing vacuum into the vacuum space, and a sealing means (18) are located at each junction of two mould walls on the other side of the mould than the vacuum space. The sealing means is arranged to seal the junction when vacuum is applied into the vacuum space. The present invention also relates to a method for vacuum assisted resin infusion moulding of a reinforced composite article and to an infusion-moulded reinforced composite article obtained with the method.

摘要： The present invention provides a method of manufacturing a fibre-reinforced composite moulding, the method comprising the steps of : (a) disposing at least one layer of fibrous reinforcing material (24, 26) within a mould; (b) disposing at least one pre-preg layer (101) adjacent to the fibrous reinforcing material, the pre-preg layer comprising fibrous reinforcement at least partially impregnated with uncured first resin material, to form a laminar assembly of the at least one layer of fibrous reinforcing material and the at least one pre-preg layer within the mould; (c) applying a vacuum to the assembly; (d) infusing a flowable uncured second resin material, under the vacuum, into the at least one layer of fibrous reinforcing material; and (e) curing the first and second resin materials at least partially simultaneously to form the fibre-reinforced composite moulding which comprises at least one first structural portion formed from the fibrous reinforcement and the cured first resin material bonded to at least one second structural portion formed from the at least one layer of fibrous reinforcing material and the cured second resin material.

摘要： An ultra-thin wire reinforced endotracheal tube which includes a novel sealing design adapted to fit in a complementary manner in a subject's larynx. The endotracheal tube includes a laryngeal section which has a cross-sectional shape and size that are complementary to a subject's glottis. Preferably, the laryngeal section has an oval or egg-shaped cross section. A plurality of thin, pliable sealing "gills" are provided on the surface of the laryngeal section. The gills provide a fluid tight seal which does not harm a subject's larynx. The endotracheal tube is reinforced with a metallic spring material. In a preferred embodiment, the metallic spring material is a shape memory alloy. The use of a shape memory alloy prevents damage to the endotracheal tube caused by distortion, such as kinking, crushing, etc.

摘要： This invention pertains to a sealing element for an endotracheal tube, which element provides a fluid seal between the outer wall of the tube and the lumen into which the tube is inserted. One of the drawbacks of using conventional seal elements, inflatable cuffs, is injury to the tracheal. This drawback is resolved by providing a sealing element (50) comprising a collar portion (51) and a pliable flange (53). One or more of these elements (50) are positioned on the endotracheal tube (55). When the tube (55) is inserted into a lumen the pliable flange (53) forms a seal between the outer wall of the tube (55) and the inner wall of the lumen.
