    • The invention relates to a method for mutually positioning tubes. In said method, and end face, which includes a generally annular and generally circular end surface (101, 201) near an inner surface (102, 202) of the tube (100) and a beveled edge surface (103A, 203A) connecting the end surface (101, 201) to an outer surface (105, 205) of the tube, is provided on a first tube (100) and on a second tube (200), respectively. A plurality of clamping cylinders are engaged with the first tube (100) and with the second tube (200), respectively. Each cylinder is radially arranged onto the respective tube thereof, and the cylinders are evenly distributed around the respective tubes (100, 200) thereof. The first and second tube are pre-positioned relative to each other such that the respective end faces thereof are opposite each other. At least one radial offset (H, H') is assessed between the respective end surfaces or end edges of the first and second tube. The clamping cylinders of the first and/or second tube are moved relative to each other in accordance with the assessed radial offset(s) (H, H') on the basis of an optimization of the areas in which the respective end surfaces or end edges of said tubes coincide.
