    • An assembly for evaporating a volatile material is described, the assembly comprising a device (1) and a refill (2) which are detachable from one another: wherein the device comprises a magnetic induction coil (103) configured to operate with an alternating current passed therethrough at a frequency of between substantially 20KHz to substantially 500KHz; and wherein the refill comprises at least one magnetic susceptor (204) having a coercivity of substantially 50 ampere/metre (He) to substantially 1500 ampere/metre (He) and a substantially liquid-tight sealed reservoir (201) containing the volatile material; wherein, in use, the magnetic susceptor(s) is arranged to heat the material predominately by magnetic hysteresis when the magnetic susceptor(s) is at least partially positioned in the induced magnetic field generated, in use, when said alternating current is passed through the induction coil. Refills, devices and methods of use are also described.

    • A method and system is disclosed which is capable of delivering at a high dose rate, respirable solid aerosols derived from aqueous- or nonaqueous-based solutions containing the desired therapeutic agent(s). The method and system comprises the integration of an aerosol generator, an aerosol evaporator, an aerosol concentrator, and an aerosol flow regulator. The aerosol generator generates 10-30 µm droplets, with a narrow size distribution. The aerosol jet is arrested by a coaxial counter-flow heated air jet, and evaporated rapidly by annular swirling heated air. Most of the air, together with the unwanted solvent vapor, is removed from the aerosol stream during the process of aerosol concentration. The output aerosol carries the dry particles to be inhaled by the patient. The respiratory-governed control of aerosol fluid generation system delivers fluid containing the test agent of interest (drug or toxin) to the aerosol generator throughout inhalation.

    • A heater device that is for use in supplying fluids to a living entity, such as a human or an animal. The heater (10) is a transformer and includes a core (12), a primary winding (14) and a secondary (16). The core is a pair of E-shaped core section, each having an outer leg (22) and an inner leg (24), with the outer legs being longer that the inner legs. The core thus forms a receiver opening (28) intermediate the inner legs that slidingly receives a self-contained cartridge (30) enclosing the secondary. When inserted, the secondary is in the magnetic flux created by an alternating power supplied to the primary windings and the secondary is shorted out to convert that magnetic flux into heat to warm the fluid passing through the secondary to the desired temperature. The cartridge is easily removable for cleaning and/or replacement.
