    • An aerosol-generating device (10) is disclosed comprising a reservoir with a liquid, a release medium, and a heater, wherein the reservoir and the release medium are in contact with each other such that during use of the aerosol-generating device (10) liquid is transported from the reservoir to the release medium, wherein the release medium and the heater are arranged such that the heater and the release medium are in contact with each other at one point of time but not permanently during use of the aerosol-generating device (10) such that during use of the aerosol-generating device (10) liquid on the heater is heated and forms an aerosol, and wherein the aerosol-generating device (10) further comprises a means for reversibly releasing physical contact between release medium and heater such that reversibly the contact between heater and release medium is interrupted and a gap between heater and release medium is formed. In addition, an aerosol-generating system is disclosed which contains the claimed aerosol- generating device (10) and a method for forming an aerosol by the claimed aerosol-generating device (10).

    • An apparatus for an electronic aerosol provision system (10). The first and second mounting parts of the carrier module cooperatively engage at an interface which extends in a direction that is substantially parallel to a direction along which air flows in the airflow path when the apparatus is in normal use. A gap (120) between the first and second mounting parts may provide a capillary channel (200) for drawing source liquid to the heating element from the reservoir heating during use.
