摘要： A device structured to suppress mitral regurgitation by restricting prolapse of a mitral valve leaflet and including a base correspondingly dimensioned to the mitral valve and including a central portion, structured to allow blood flow there through and a peripheral portion or ring connected to the central portion in substantially surrounding relation thereto. An operative position of the base includes the central portion disposed in overlying, movement restricting relation to at least one of the valve leaflets and the ring concurrently anchored adjacent or directly to the native annulus of the mitral valve. The physical characteristics of the base facilitate its movement with and conformance to the mitral valve during diastole and systole cycles of the heart.

摘要： Systems and methods utilize semipermeable nanotubes in conjunction with application of controlled electrical potentials across semipermeable nanotube walls allow selective transport of charged impurities (e.g., charged impurities, ions, etc.) from a fluid into these nanotubes. Impurities collected in these nanotubes can then be removed from the fluid, (e.g., blood) as a waste stream. A collection of semipermeable nanotubes each carrying a waste stream can be aggregated and merged into a ureter for excretion thereby providing an artificial kidney system. Sensors that detect/measure various impurities may be included in the system to feed information to a microprocessor to inform on concentrations of impurities, and thereby control electrical potentials applied to the system.

The medical device (20) includes a deformable body (28) configured to be implanted between a first vertebra and a second vertebra for providing shock absorption and stabilization of the vertebras. The deformable body comprises an impermeable inner layer forming an interior volume (27) and an outer layer at least a portion of which is permeable. The outer layer is at least partially outside the inner layer and forms an exterior volume between the inner and outer layers. The medical device further includes a drug reservoir (40) connected to the deformable body and in fluid communication with the exterior volume. 摘要： Methods and apparatus of the present invention provide for orthopaedic total replacement of the hip while substantially preserving muscles and soft tissues around the hip joint resulting in reduced healing time and decreased risk of dislocation following the procedure. In an exemplary embodiment, the acetabulum is prepared and fitted with a prosthetic acetabular cup 702 and a prosthetic femoral head 1102 is fitted into the prosthetic acetabular cup 702. An intramedullary rod 1502 is inserted longitudinally into the femur.
