摘要： A device (4) is described for promotion of human or animal wound (24) healing by controlling oxygen concentration in the environment around the wound. It is light weight, portable, convenient and comfortably worn by the patient. It can operate continuously or intermittently and can be patient-controllable or automatic. Its comfort, portability and effectiveness insure that it will be readily used by patients to enhance recovery from skin trauma. The device (4) is a generally flat unit which includes components for electrochemical production of an ionic species at one electrode (56), transported of the ionic species at a second electrode (58) to be converted to a molecule which results in a net change of concentration of oxygen adjacent to the wound. Medication may also be applied to the wound within the enclosure. The electrical system can be powered by an easily replaceable battery. The patient contact portion of the device unit is normally discarded after a single use, and the electrical and membrane components, contained in their own housing, are reused. A method of enhancing wound healing by controlling the concentration of oxygen in the vicinity of a wound using device is also described.

摘要： Systems, methods, and apparatus are provided for detecting leaks in systems for treating a patient with reduced pressure. In one instance, a system includes a distribution manifold for disposing proximate to the tissue site and a sealing member for disposing over the distribution manifold and at least a portion of intact epidermis of the patient. The sealing member has at least a portion that is substantially transparent. The system further includes a reduced-pressure source associated with the distribution manifold for providing reduced pressure to the distribution manifold and a leak-detection member sized and configured to substantially surround the distribution manifold. The leak-detection member includes a detection material that develops a color contrast when a portion is exposed to air and a portion is not exposed to air. The leak detection member works with even low flow systems. Other systems, methods, and apparatus are presented.

The wound frame may provide pressure relief around a wound or pressure sore to permit healing, allow compression for venous ulcers, retain moisture within the wound environment, absorb exudate, relieve pain and trauma associated with dressing removal, allow debridement and application of topical medications and or other compounds or chemicals, accelerate healing and facilitate monitoring of wounds. A conformable frame may be composed of one or more layers of any suitable material and may include adhesive on one or more surfaces to secure the frame to the wound site, to secure the frame to itself and or any suitable closure element and or to secure the dressing to the conformable frame. 摘要： A portable, self-contained device is described for the topical application of oxygen to promote the healing of skin wounds. The device is comprised of wound dressing (66) that incorporates an electrochemical, chemical, or thermal means of generating high purity oxygen (10, 14, 18). The device can regulate the supply of oxygen to an area above the wound at various concentrations, pressures and dosages. The device is driven by a built-in or accessory power source. Ambient air is brought into contact with a gas permeable cathode. Oxygen present in the air is reduced at the cathode to negative ions (i.e., peroxide, super-oxide or hydroxyl ions) and/or their unprotonic and protonic neutral species. One or more of these species diffuse through an electrolyte and are then oxidized at a gas permeable anode to produce a high concentration of oxygen directly above the wound, oxygen can also be depleted from that same area by reversing the polarity of the power source (50) allowing the supply of oxygen to the wound to be modulated, thereby controlling the rate of healing.
