摘要： This invention is directed to advanced hemorrhage control wound dressings, and methods of using and producing same. The subject wound dressing is constructed from a non-mammalian material for control of severe bleeding. The wound dressing for controlling severe bleeding is formed of a biomaterial comprising chitosan, a hydrophilic polymer, a polyacrylic polymer or a combination thereof. The kind of severe, life-threatening bleeding contemplated by this invention is typically of the type not capable of being stanched when a conventional gauze wound dressing is applied with conventional pressure to the subject wound. The wound dressing being capable of substantially stanching the flow of the severe life-threatening bleeding from the wound by adhering to the wound site, to seal the wound, to accelerate blood clot formation at the wound site, to reinforce clot formation at the wound site and prevent bleed out from the wound site, and to substantially prohibit the flow of blood out of the wound site.

摘要： A skin covering material, e.g. for covering wounds, burns and the like, to protect them during the healing process, includes a tacky polymer complex layer (24) for adhesively contacting the skin, and a water vapour-permeable backing layer (22, 26) carrying the polymer. The polymer complex is produced by mixing together solutions of two hydrophilic polymers which are coprecipitatable, when mixed together, to form a water-insoluble complex. An example of a pair of such polymers is polyacrylic acid and polyethylene oxide. The assembly is suitably packaged in a sealed pouch (13) with high barrier properties towards water vapour and containing an atmosphere of high humidity.

摘要： A method of forming a fibrin hydrogel composition is described. The method comprises forming an aqueous solution comprising fibrinogen, fibrin-forming enzyme, and a fibrin hydrogel forming salt. The fibrin hydrogel forming salt concentration is greater than or equal to the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel. The method further comprises reducing the salt concentration below the threshold concentration to form a fibrin hydrogel. In some embodiments, the aqueous solution further comprises a plasticizer. A fibrin composition is also described comprising a fibrin hydrogel having a fibrin concentration ranging from 0.1 to 10 wt-%; and a fibrin hydrogel forming salt. The fibrin hydrogel forming salt has a concentration less than a threshold concentration to form the fibrin hydrogel. The fibrin hydrogel or dehydrated fibrin hydrogel can be in various physical forms such a sheet, foam, or plurality of pieces. Also described are methods of forming a fibrin article, wound dressings and a method of treatment of a wound.
