    • A controller for DC motor is provided with an FET (206) which is connected between one end of a motor (201) and the positive electrode of a battery EB, a diode (203) through which the electric current having flown through the motor (201) is passed when the switch (220) of the battery EB is turned off, a means for measuring the current flowing through the motor (201) which comprises a shunt resistor (203a), a differential amplifier (203b), and a low-pass filter (203c), and a controller (250) which PWM-controls the turn-on/off of the FET (206) so that the measured value of the current flowing through the motor (201) is coincident with a target value. The controller (250) sets a very small value as the target value when the switch (220) of the battery EB is turned off and supplies the very small current to the motor (201). Therefore, the FET which drives the motor of a bicycle with auxiliary motor is protected at a low cost without adding any extra component.

    • After the depth of discharge of a battery which indicates the ratio of the discharge capacity of the battery to the nominal capacity of the battery is divided into a plurality of ranges and the number of charging times at which refresh discharge of the battery is to be executed is preset to each range, the depth of discharge is found by integrating the discharge capacity until the next charging time of the battery after the battery is once charged and repeating the integration of the counted number of charging times of a relevant range in accordance with the found depth of discharge at the time of charging the battery and, when the number of charging time of one of the ranges reaches the number of times at which the refresh discharge of the battery is to be executed, the refresh discharge is executed automatically of manually. Since the depth of discharge is divided into the ranges and the number of charging times at which the refresh discharge of the battery is to be executed is set, and then, the refresh discharge is executed when the number of charging times of one of the ranges reaches a set value, the refresh discharge can be executed automatically or manually at appropriate timing at which the effect of refresh discharge execution can be exerted most efficiently and the influence of the memory effect of the battery can be reduced effectively and efficiently.

    • A shock-absorber, in which the operation of a main valve operating the main hydraulic passage is controlled by the excited electric current of a linear solenoid for control of a damping force, wherein responding features of the main valve to displacement of the piston or variations in set propelling force of the linear solenoid are improved. A shock-absorber of the invention is provided with: a main room facing one end of the main valve and energizing said main valve in the direction of opening said main hydraulic passage on receiving hydraulic pressure in the main oil room on the high pressure side; a pilot room facing the other end of said main valve; a pilot valve to open on receiving pressure in the main room and release pressure in said pilot room to the main oil room on the lower pressure side; a linear solenoid to energize said pilot valve in the closing direction; a variable orifice whose area of opening varies with relative displacement between said pilot valve and main valve; and pilot passage from said main room to the main oil room on the lower pressure side through the variable orifice and the pilot valve.
