    • A computer method for providing the location of a mobile device to an applications server. The method comprising receiving a request for the location of the mobile device from the applications server that identifies the mobile device and the carrier providing mobile telephone service to the mobile device. The identifying data is then used to determine the mobile telephone switching office currently serving the mobile device. If the mobile device subscriber has not provided pre-authorization for providing the location of the mobile device to the applications server, authorization is requested from the mobile device to provide the location of the mobile device to the applications server and to incur the cost or obtain the benefit of so doing on behalf of the mobile device subscriber. Upon receiving authorization from the mobile device to provide data respecting the location of the mobile device to the applications server or, if the mobile device subscriber has pre-authorized the providing of the location of the mobile device to the applications server, payment approval is requested from the carrier providing mobile telephone service to the mobile device of any cost to mobile device subscriber of providing the location of the mobile device to the applications server.

    • A system and method for authenticating a subscriber to an application provider using the authentication services of the wireless network over which the connection is made is disclosed herein. A unique client id is provided, over a public network, by an application provider to an authenticator. The authenticator requests the digital wireless device corresponding to the unique client id be redirected to connect to a secure port of the authenticator. The secure port of the authenticator is connected to a data gateway that does not permit public access, and only permits connections from addresses originating within the wireless network to which the digital wireless device is connected. Upon receiving a connection on the secure port from the digital wireless device, the authenticator provides authentication of the digital wireless device to the application provider. A method and system for obtaining non-repudiable authorization for a billing transaction, so that charges can be placed on a network access billing system by an outside service provider, is also disclosed.

    • Provided herewith are methods and apparatus for optimizing ventricle-to-ventricle (V-V) pacing delay intervals based upon ECG-based optimization calculated as a linear function of P-wave duration, sensed PR (intrinsic) interval, sensed (or paced) QRS duration and heart rate. Since the relationship among these parameters is linear, once the coefficients are solved (which can be any value, including null) with reference to a known optimized V-V interval such as from an echocardiographic study, an operating V-V interval value can be dynamically adjusted in an ambulatory subject. The various combinations of values can be loaded into a look up table or calculated automatically. And, since some of the parameters do not typically change much over time they can be determined acutely and fed into the equation while the other values can be measured more frequently. The parameter values can be measured by an implantable medical device such as a dual- or triple-chamber pacemaker.
