    • The aim of the invention is to provide a wheel bearing assembly with a connection between a journal section of the hub and an adapter section of a joint body or similar, which is cost-effective to produce and/or requires only minimal installation space. To achieve this, the invention discloses a wheel bearing assembly (1) comprising an adapter section that is and/or can be connected to a joint cap (7) or another adapter element, a journal section (18) that is and/or can be connected to a wheel hub (2), a separate inner ring (17) that provides a race (36) for rolling bodies of the wheel bearing assembly (1) and that is located on the journal section (18). The adapter section and the journal section (18) intermesh by means of end gearing (3,4). The assembly also comprises a tensioning element (22) that mutually braces the adapter section and the journal section (18) under an overall pre-tension, the end gearing (3,4) being braced by a first pre-tension along a first force path A between the adapter section and the journal section (18) and the inner ring (17) being braced by a second pre-tension along a second force path B between the adapter section and the journal section (18). At least some sections of the first and second force paths A and B are parallel.

    • The invention relates to a wheel bearing for motor vehicles, substantially consisting of a multi-row angular contact bearing (1). Said multi-row angular contact bearing comprises an outer bearing ring (4) arranged in a hub (2) of a fastening flange (3) on the vehicle side and an inner bearing ring (7) arranged on a hub (5) of a fastening flange (6) on the wheel side, and a plurality of rolling elements (12, 13) that are disposed between the bearing rings (4, 7) one next to the other in at least two rows (8, 9) and that are held by at least two bearing cages (10, 11) interspaced in the peripheral direction at even distances. The rolling elements (12, 13) roll off in respective two adjacent groove-type races (16, 17 and 18, 19) that are machined into the inner face (14) of the outer bearing ring (4) and into the outer face (15) of the inner bearing ring (7), the contact angle axes (20, 21) thereof being pitched towards each other in an O arrangement and the races being axially delimited only on one side by respective shoulders (22, 23, 24, 25). The invention is characterized in that both the outer bearing ring (4) and the inner bearing ring (7) of the angular contact bearing (1) are one-piece and are completely integrated with its races (16, 17 and 18, 19) into the fastening flanges (3, 6) on the wheel and vehicle side, respectively, at least on row (8 or 9) of the rolling elements (12 or 13) being configured as balls.
