摘要： A full-time all-wheel drive system for a motor vehicle equipped with a transversely mounted engine and transaxle includes a power take-off unit. The power take-off unit includes an interaxle differential which drives a first power path connected to the front wheels and a second power path connected to the rear wheels. The first power path includes a planetary final drive unit which drives a double planetary front differential unit that is interconnected to a pair of front axleshafts. The second power path includes a helical gearset and a bevel gearset which deliver power to a rear propshaft.

摘要： An electric drive axle (32 - Figure 3) for use in hybrid vehicles has an electric motor (58) driving a compact gearbox (68). The gearbox includes a planetary reduction unit (70) and a differential (72). The planetary reduction unit has a sun gear (74) driven by the electric motor, and compound planet gears (80) supported from a planet carrier which have a first gear segment (88) meshed with the sun gear and a first ring gear (76) and a second gear segment (90) meshed with a second ring gear (78). The second ring gear drives the differential for transferring power to a pair of output shafts (110 and 118) adapted for connection to one set of wheels. The electric motor and gearbox are mounted in a common housing assembly (50) to provide a compact drive axle assembly.

摘要： A hybrid drive system for a four-wheel drive system arranged to supply motive power to a transfer case (20) from an internal combustion engine (12) and/or an electric motor (22). The transfer case is comprised of a planetary gearset (56) having a first input (82) driven by the motor/generator, a second input (80) driven by the engine, and an output (88) directing drive torque to the front and rear drivelines. The output of the planetary gearset drives a rear output shaft (50) connected to the rear driveline and further drives a front output shaft (40) connected to the front driveline. The transfer case further includes a second planetary gearset (58) having an input (112) driven by the motor/generator and an output (116) driving the first input of the first planetary gearset. This hybrid drive arrangement permits use of a modified transfer case in place of a conventional transfer case in a traditional four-wheel drive driveline.

摘要： A transfer case is provided and includes a first output shaft driven by a powertrain and operably interconnected with a first pair of wheels, a second output shaft selectively driven by the first output shaft and operably interconnected with a second pair of wheels and a transfer gear assembly operably disposed between the first output shaft and the second output shaft for transferring drive torque from the first output shaft to the second output shaft. The transfer gear assembly includes a first transfer gear in selective drive connection with the first output shaft, a second transfer gear in meshed engagement with the first transfer gear, a third transfer gear in drive connection with the second transfer gear and the second output shaft. A clutch pack is operably disposed between the first output shaft and the first transfer gear for selectively establishing drive connection therebetween.

摘要： A power transfer unit (20) is provided with a torque limiting coupling (168) that limits the amount of torque that can be transferred to the driveline components when torque peaks occur while torque is transferred to the non-slipping wheels. The torque limiting coupling (168) includes an engagement member (170) disposed between an input (206, 208) from a driving member (104) and an output (200, 202) to a driven member (30). The engagement member is located radially between and provides a frictional engagement between the input (206, 208) and the output (200, 202). The engagement member (170) is capable of slipping under heavy torque loads in order to protect the driveline components.
