    • The present invention provides (with reference to figure 1A) a bicycle frame (10, 11, 12) formed as a monocoque and having a generally Z-shaped side elevation. The present invention also provides (with reference to figure 3) a front fork assembly for a bicycle comprising two stays (e.g. 50) having wheel mounting means (e.g. 56) for supporting a wheel between the members, the stays (e.g. 50) being joined at one end, the stays (e.g. 50) both being shaped as aerofoils in cross section each having a rounded leading edge and each having side surfaces which taper rearwardly from the leading edge to intersect to define a knife-edge-like rearward edge. The present invention further provides (with reference to figure 1A) a bicycle frame (10, 11, 12) having a plurality of stays (25, 26) for mounting a wheel to the remainder of the frame (10, 12) wherein the stays (25, 26) are in the form of cantilever arms extending away from the remainder of the frame (10, 11) and wherein the stays (25, 26) flex to allow motion of a wheel relative to the remainder of the frame (10, 12). The present invention additionally provides (with reference to figure 7) a bicycle seat (100, 101) which is adapted to incorporate a detachable container (101) for drinking fluid and the invention also provides a detachable container (101) having connecting means (103, 105) for connecting the container (101) to a bicycle seat (100) to form a rearward exterior of the bicycle seat (100), the container (101) being shaped to continue the contours of the seat (100).

    • An adaptive control system reducing undesired signals comprises a processor (36) which provides secondary signals for sources (37) for interference with the undesired signals. Sensors (42) measure the residual vibration which is indicative of the interference between the undesired and secondary signals. The processor (36) uses the residual signal to adjust the secondary signals to reduce the residual signals. Noise generation means (48) is provided to add a low level noise signal to the secondary signal and to provide a low level noise signal to the processor (36). The processor (36) is adapted to transform the low level noise signal and the residual signal from sensors (42) to provide the amplitude and phase of spectral components of the signals. The processor (36) modifies the secondary signals using these spectral components to obtain better reduction of the undesired signals.

    • The present invention provides, with reference to the figure, a vehicle suspension system comprising an actuator (10) connected between the body (11) of a vehicle and a wheel and a wheel and hub assembly (18) of the vehicle. A source of pressurized fluid (20) and an exhaust for fluid (24) are provided along with valve means (22) for controlling flow of fluid to the actuator (10) from the source of pressurized fluid (20) and/or from the actuator (10) to the exhaust for fluid (24). Sensor means (27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 41) is used to generate signals of sensed variable vehicle parameters. A control system for the vehicle suspension system is used which has processor means (25, 20) which processes the signals generated by the sensor means (27, 28, 30, 31, 32, 33, 34, 35, 41). The processor means (25, 26) outputs a control signal to the valve means (22) and thereby controls the actuator (10). The processor means in normal operating conditions uses a first set of preprogrammed constants (e.g. control loop gains, integrating factors, desired ride heights) in algorithms used by the processor means to calculate the control signal outputted thereby. The processor means uses a different set of preprogrammed constants in the algorithms for a chosen time period following activation of the system and/or at low vehicle speeds and/or a low pressure of fluid supplied by the source of pressurized fluid (20).
