摘要： In various embodiments, the present invention is directed to new low cost initiator compositions for use with the production of well-defined telechelic PIBs (by LC+P of isobutylene). In various other embodiments, the present invention is directed to methods for using these novel compositions as initiators for isobutylene (IB) and other cationically polymerizable monomers, such as styrene and its derivatives. In still other embodiments, the present invention is directed to structurally new, allyl (and chlorine) telechelic PIBs formed from these new initiator compositions and their derivatives (in particular, hydroxyl telechelic PIB and amine telechelic PIB). In yet other embodiments, the present invention is directed to structurally new polyurethanes, polyureas, and polyurethane ureas made using telechelic PIBs formed from these new initiator compositions.

摘要： The present invention generally relates to polyisobutylene-based polyurethanes, polyureas and/or polyurethane-polyureas, and to a process for making such compounds. In one embodiment, the polyisobutylene-based polyurethanes, polyureas and/or polyurethane-polyureas also include at least one flexible hydrogen bond acceptor chain extender (HACE). In another embodiment, amine telechelic and hydroxyl telechelic polyisobutylenes are utilized with at least one at least one flexible hydrogen bond acceptor chain extender (HACE) to produce polyurethane-polyureas having various desired mechanical properties in combination with various desired oxidative/hydrolytic stability.

A layered material is described that includes: a) a porous material comprising a porous surface; and b) a layer of blocking material comprising reactive functionalities coupled to the porous surface, wherein the interaction of the reactive functionalities with the porous material forms a diffusion blocking layer. Methods are also described of minimizing the diffusion of metal atoms, reactive etchants or CVD/ALD precursor materials into a material having a plurality of pores are disclosed herein that include: a) providing a precursor material that comprises a carbon-including material; b) providing a solvent carrier solution; c) combining the precursor material and the solvent carrier solution to form a diffusion blocking reactive solution; and d) applying the diffusion blocking reactive solution to the material having a plurality of pores to form a diffusion blocking material.

摘要： The present invention is generally directed to a new class of TPEs made from peptide terminated low T g polymers and methods for making them. The middle block of these TPE is a telechelic polymer with a T g that is below the intended service temperature of the TPE. The terminal peptide segments of these TPEs are short (from about 1 to about 10 amino acids long) and tend to from sheet type secondary structures through intermolecular hydrogen bonds, creating physical crosslinks between polymer chains. The dissimilarity of the peptide hard component and the elastomeric soft component results in very strong segregation between the microphase domains and a low plastic deformation for the resulting TPE. And since the T m of the crystalline peptide phase can be adjusted, these new TPEs may be tailored to fit the intended service temperature and are melt-processable.

摘要： Polymer formulations are disclosed and described herein that comprise: at least one polymer comprising at least one hydroxy functional group, at least one acid source, and at least one acid-activated crosslinker that reacts with the polymer. In contemplated embodiments, these polymer formulations are curable at relatively low temperatures, as compared to those polymer formulations not comprising contemplated crosslinkers. Transparent films formed from these contemplated formulations are also disclosed. Organic transparent film compositions are also disclosed that comprise: at least one at least one phenol-based polymer, at least one solvent; at least one acid-activated crosslinker; and at least one acid source. Methods of forming organic transparent films with improved transmittance by depositing on a substrate the formulations disclosed herein and curing the formulations or compositions at a temperature of less than about 200°C. Inorganic transparent film compositions are disclosed that include: at least one silanol-based polymer, at least one solvent; at least one acid-activated crosslinker; and at least one acid source. Methods of forming inorganic transparent films are disclosed by depositing on a substrate the formulations disclosed herein and curing the formulations or compositions at a temperature of 200°C or less.

摘要： Sulfur containing, hydroxyl-telechelic PIBs, hydrolytically and oxidatively resistant, biocompatible and biostable polyurethanes (PUs) made therefrom, and methods for making both are disclosed. Well-defined hydroxyl telechelic PIBs are synthesized by a thiol-ene click photochemical reaction between PIBs carrying unsaturated end groups and 2-mercaptoethanol (HS-CH 2 CH 2 -OH). This regioselective process affords HO-CH 2 CH 2 -S-PIB-S-CH 2 CH 2 -OH (abbreviated herein as HO-S-PIB-S-OH) in high yield. In some embodiments, these HO-S-PIB-S-OH polymers may be reacted with diisocyanates and a chain extender to form sulfur containing PIB-based PUs. These sulfur containing PIB-based PUs have been found to have properties and chemical stability that are very similar to that of PUs made from di-hydroxyl terminated PIBs (OH-PIB-OHs) without sulfur, but have surprisingly increased creep resistance and are easier and less expensive to make.
