    • A clutch mechanism comprising a cover (4), a diaphragm (5) engaging the cover (4), a mounting assembly (8) pivotably securing the diaphragm (5) to the cover (4) and extending through widened holes (53) in the diaphragm (5), and at least one pressure plate (3) supporting the diaphragm (5) by means of an annular bearing boss (31) divided into bearing segments. Said mounting assembly (8) supports a supporting ring (71) rotating therewith and having coplanar driving projections (70) extending from the outer ring periphery and through the bearing boss (31) of the pressure plate (3). Said projections (70) are attachable at their free ends to the pressure plate (3). In an alternative embodiment, the driving projections (70) are secured to a secondary bearing portion (6, 60, 160) supported by the mounting assembly (8). Application to motor vehicles.
