    • Needle-free hypodermic jet injection devices having an actuation system to effect an injection from a drug delivery system. The actuation system includes an injection force assembly adapted to transmit a driving force to the drug delivery system. The actuation system further includes a trigger assembly adapted to alter the actuation system between a plurality of configurations including a fired configuration in which the injection force assembly transmits a driving force to the drug delivery system. In some embodiments, the device has a recoil restriction system including a restriction member adapted to couple the recoil restriction system to the trigger assembly and a recoil member coupled to the injection force assembly and movable relative to the restriction member. The restriction member limits movement of the recoil member once the recoil member moves a predetermined distance relative to the restriction member.

    • A needle-free injection system, including an injection device and a vial adapter. The injection device is configured to be loaded with a dose of injectable fluid and forcibly inject such dose into an injection site. The vial adapter is configured to secure to and selectively seal a vial containing an external supply of injectable fluid. The vial adapter also includes a flexible adapter structure biased into a blocking position. The injection device includes a filling adapter configured to move the flexible adapter structure out of the blocking position to thereby permit the vial adapter and injection device to be secured together in an engaged configuration. In this engaged configuration, a dose of injectable fluid may be drawn from the external supply of injectable fluid into the injection device.

    • A needle-free injector for injecting fluid from an injection cartridge that has a longitudinal axis, an injection orifice at a distal end and a displaceable plunger. The needle-free injector includes an injector body having a longitudinal axis and a side opening to receive the cartridge from a position laterally offset from the injector body longitudinal axis. The needle-free injector further includes a system disposed in the injector body for providing injection power and a ram for transferring power from the system to the plunger. The ram is disposed in the injector body and is axially aligned with the longitudinal axis of the cartridge when the cartridge is in position in the injector body. The needle-free injector further includes a closure mechanism for closing the side opening of the injector body after the cartridge is in position in the injector body to lock the cartridge in place in the injector body. The syringe assembly (28) is configured to expel injectable fluid out of a nozzle (30) upon application of pressurized gas to the syringe assembly (28). The injection device (22) also includes a pressurized gas delivery mechanism (64) disposed within the housing (26) and configured to selectively apply pressurized gas to the syringe assembly (28). The pressurized gas delivery mechanism (64) is at least partly actuated by pressing the nozzle (30) onto an injection site so that the syringe assembly (28) moves relative to the housing (26).

    • A filling device for a needle-free injector system is provided that is adapted to sterilely deliver a predetermined amount of an injectate from a vial to a plurality of cartridges. The filling device normally includes a single-use fluid path disposed between the vial and a receiving cartridge. The fluid path may include a vial connector adapted to couple to a vial, a filler head, and a conduit connecting the vial connector and filler head. The filling device typically further includes a pump coupled to the fluid path and adapted to propel the injectate from the vial to the receiving cartridge, and a cartridge-advancing element. Activation of the cartridge-advancing element is adapted to sequentially advance empty cartridges into a position opposite the filler head. Also provided are disposable fluid path kits and methods of using the filling device.
