The apparatus includes two rail assemblies with support braces or attached hooks that can be used to support the weight of the appliance. The rail assemblies can be carried to a rooftop or other installation location manually using a ladder or other elevating device. The hooks may also be rotated such that the lifting apparatus can be raised by a crane or other device. Each rail assembly also includes adjustable legs which can be moved up or down by rotating a hand operated crank.
