摘要： A ballast control integrated circuit (ICl) for driving at least one gas discharge lamp comprising a first oscillator circuit for producing a first oscillating signal; a driver circuit for driving first and second output transistors (Ql, Q2) connected in a half-bridge configuration; the driver circuit being provided with pulsed signals derived from the first oscillating signal for generating pulsed drive signals for driving the first and second transistors (Ql, Q2); and a dimming control circuit responsive to a dimming input signal to drive the driver circuit such that the driver circuit provides the pulsed drive signals in bursts thereby to dim the lamp in dependence on the level of the dimming input signal. 摘要： An aquarium which includes a tank having a pump and an under gravel filter disposed in the tank below the pump. The under gravel filter includes a hollow bubble dispersing base plate having a perforated top surface and an overlying substrate. An air conduit is provided for introducing air into the pump. The pump is connected to the plate such as to pump blended oxygenated water and air into the interior of the plate to thereby cause oxygenated water and bubbles to exit upwardly through the perforated top surface of the plate and into and through the substrate. The pump includes a free floating magnetic impeller. A rotational torque generating unit is provided to rotate the impeller. The rotational torque generating unit includes a magnetic drive disk and a motor for rotating the magnetic drive disk. The pump and rotational torque generating unit are aligned with each other such that a magnetic field is established between the magnetic drive disk and the magnetic impeller, the magnetic field rotating upon rotation of the magnetic drive disk to thereby rotate the impeller.

摘要： An integrated circuit (14) controls a power converter that includes single stage buck-boost converter (10) and a switching full bridge (12) that may be used to drive an HID lamp. The single stage buck-boost converter (10) reduces the complexity and parts count of the power converter, or electronic ballast, while permitting PFC and DC bus voltage regulation under control of the integrated circuit. The integrated circuit (14) also provides all the drive signals to operate the switching full bridge circuit (12) to maintain constant power on the HID lamp. A wait timer provides an interval of time between restart attempts for the HID lamp to permit the lamp to cool so that high hot restart voltages are avoided. The integrated circuit (14) simplifies the design of power converters and electronic ballasts in particular, while contributing to reducing part count, complexity and cost in conjunction with the single stage buck-boost converter (10).

摘要： A method for reducing Audible noise in a motor drive, wherein the motor drive includes a motor controller driving a PWM space vector modulator providing gating pulses to an inverter providing phase currents to the phase windings of the motor, and wherein phase currents of the motor are determined by taking samples of the DC link current in a DC link powering the inverter. The method comprises determining the speed of the motor and comparing the speed to a preset threshold, the preset threshold defining a speed at which audible noise is generated by the motor due to a minimum pulse constraint being imposed on the motor phase currents in order to reliably sample the DC link current to measure the phase current. If the speed is below the threshold, the DC link current in the DC link is sampled using a reduced number of current samples for a PWM cycle of the PWM space vector modulator to reduce audible motor noise.

摘要： The present invention provides a means for easily ganging together a traditional-style dimmer switch and a designer-style dimmer switch in a multi-gang designer-style faceplate. Specifically, a faceplate adapter for a load control device according to the present invention comprises a front surface, an adapter opening in the front surface, and an attachment post. The front surface defines a first area substantially the same size as a faceplate opening of a designer-style faceplate. The adapter opening defines a second area substantially the same size as a faceplate opening of a traditional-style faceplate. The attachment post allows the adapter to be secured to the load control device.

摘要： A load control device, for controlling the amount of power delivered to a electrical load from an AC power source, comprises a user interface adapted to be received in an opening of a traditional-style faceplate and providing a plurality of functionalities on a single control button. A transitory actuation of the control button controls the power delivered to the load. Pulling the control button away from the load control device actuates an air-gap switch to provide an air-gap break in the electrical connection between the source and the load. A linear array of status indicators is provided on a front surface of the control button and displays a visual representation of the amount of power being delivered to the load. A plurality of light pipes are provided inside the control button to conduct the light from a plurality of light-emitting diodes to the front surface of the control button.

摘要： A substrate on which a silicon device is mounted in accordance with an embodiment of the present invention includes a plurality of protrusions extending upward from a top surface of the substrate and a solder layer formed on the top of the substrate such that the plurality of protrusions extends through the solder layer and a top portion of each protrusion of the plurality of protrusions is stamped down to be level with a top surface of the solder layer such that the silicon device is supported on the plurality of protrusions when placed on the substrate. The protrusions are preferably gouged up from the surface of the substrate with a needle like tool. A stamper tool is used to stamp the protrusions down to their desired height such that they are properly positioned to support the silicon device. The solder layer may be a solder pre-form or may be a layer of solder paste. The solder layer is heated to form liquid solder to bond the substrate and the silicon device, however, the protrusions support the silicon device to prevent movement thereof when the solder is in liquid form.
