    • The invention relates to a transmission (1) with a continuously variable transmission ratio, especially for motor vehicles. The transmission (1) has an input shaft (2), several sub-transmissions (3, 5), which are connected to the input shaft (2) and which are configured with a toroidal construction; and several output shafts (4, 6), each of which is connected with one of the sub-transmissions (3, 5) respectively. The output shafts (4, 6) are configured and located in such a way that they can be operated independently of each other. A regulating device which acts on the sub-transmissions (3, 5) is also provided, and is configured and located in such a way that a torque that is applied to the input shaft (2) can be imparted to the output shafts (4, 6) according to traction. According to the method for imparting a torque in a transmission (1) to several output shafts (4, 6), a transmitted torque and a set transmission ratio are coupled in each of several sub-transmissions (4, 6), in such a way that a modification of the torque that is transmitted alters the transmission ratio. The change in the transmission ratio is registered and is compensated by the supporting forces that act on intermediate roller bearings being adjusted according to the modified torque.
