摘要： The invention relates to biaxially orientated, co-extruded polyester films, which have at least one base layer that contains a thermoplastic polyester, preferably polyethylene terephthalate and approx. 2 to 60 wt.- % of a cyclo-olefin copolymer that is preferably composed of norbornene and ethylene units and which have at least one cover layer that is devoid of a COC and which optionally have additional cover or intermediate layers and can contain conventional additives such as stabilisers and anti-blocking agents. Said films are characterised in particular by a degree of whiteness > 70 %, an opacity > 55 % and a gloss, (at least on one side) > 100 and are therefore suitable for numerous industrial applications. During the production of the films in accordance with the co-extrusion process, up to 70 wt.- % of reclaimed product can be used, without having a noticeable negative effect on the physical properties of the film.

The multilayer film includes a polyolefin core layer, a copolymer or terpolymer intermediate layer on at least one surface of the polyolefin core layer, with the intermediate layer having voids therein and including a wax trapped within the voids, and a surface layer on the intermediate layer. Multilayer films according to the present invention are particularly useful as packaging films for food products, and are successful in laminating, printing or coating operations.

摘要： This invention relates to an in-mold label comprising a core layer with a first and second surface and a heat seal layer on the first surface of the core layer, wherein the heat seal layer comprises a polyolefin, having a peak melt temperature of less than about 110 DEG C and where less than about 25 % of the polyolefin melts at a temperature of less than 50 DEG C as measured by differential scanning calorimetry. The label may also contain a skin layer on the second surface of the core layer. The invention also relates to plastic substrates bonded to the label. In another aspect, the present invention also relates to a process for in-mold labeling and a process for preparing an in-mold label. The labels and processes provide reduced amounts of one or more of the following: blisters, both before and after bonding, shrinkage, bagginess and gage bands.

摘要： A high density polyethylene (HDPE) film is provided having high biaxial orientation. The film includes HDPE having a density of at least 0.940, and a melt index of from 0.5 to 10. The film is stretched in the machine (longitudinal) direction to a degree of from 5:1 to 8:1, preferably from 6:1 to 7:1. The film is also stretched in the transverse (lateral) direction to a degree of from 6:1 to 15:1, preferably from 9:1 to 13:1. Preferably, the film has an orientation imbalance, with a higher degree of transverse orientation than machine orientation. Skin layers such as heat seal layers can be provided. Preferably, the film contains one or more layers of a casting promoter material employed to promote casting of a high gauge HDPE sheet subsequently high biaxially oriented to provide the film. The film can also be cavitated, or otherwise modified (e.g., corona-treated, coated, metallized, etc.) to provide films suitable for special applications. The film of the invention has superior properties, including lower water vapor transmission rate, better dead-fold, higher tensile strength, and consistent gauge profile. Also provided is a method for making the biaxially oriented film.

As a result, multilayer films (10) having high reflectivity (for both planes of polarization for any incident direction in the case of mirrors, and for the selected direction in the case of polarizers) over a wide bandwidth, can be achieved.

Since this resin is excellent in stretching stability, it can be stretched with a low tensile strength stably, thereby giving an oriented film excellent in not only stretchability and shrinkage but also elastic recovery.
