    • An improvement for all games which incorporate the capturing of game (or playing) pieces as part of game play. A game piece set where each piece is hollow and has an access or opening to allow surprises to be inserted prior to play and removed during play. Surprises may include confections, toys, printed materials, currency, and other items designed or selected to fit inside game piece. Surprises are held inside game piece by an integrated (or attached) seal or detachable seal (such as a removable plug or cap). Game can be played on a standard game board. The factory, players and/or caregivers fill the game pieces with surprises prior to start of game. The surprise remains concealed until game piece is captured during play; the seal is then opened by player, and the surprise is removed and enjoyed. Overall, the tangible surprise element serves as an immediate, fun, and exciting improvement to the game.

    • Disclosed herein are two aspects of the present invention, firstly a game piece and secondly, a game that may be played using such a game piece. Game pieces of the present invention are configured from material that is stable in two states that have different shapes so as to snap when transforming from one state to the other, and therefore may be referred to as "snaps". A graphic image may be depicted on the game piece, such that game pieces may be collected and traded to acquire a variety of different graphic images. An object of the game is to throw a game piece onto a stack of a plurality of such game pieces in an attempt to cause a change in the stable state of as many game pieces as possible.

    • A board game apparatus for use in playing a game between two players includes a game board (10) having an alternating pattern of light (12) and dark (13) squares, a first set of game pieces (20) which is light in color, and a second set of game pieces (20) which is dark in color. First keying devices (14) are attached to the light squares of the game board and second keying devices (16) are attached to the dark squares. The first keying devices affect the appearance of the first set of game pieces but not the second set of game pieces, and said second keying devices affect the appearance of the second set of game pieces but not the first set of game pieces. A game piece (20) of one of the sets becomes a game piece of the other set when the piece is turned over.
