    • Game pieces, other apparatus, and methods for playing checkers type board games, are disclosed. Game pieces may include game action indicia indicating a game action to be performed, such as moving a game piece in a manner other than that as provided by the rules according to which a traditional game of checkers is played. Game action indicia may be selectively displayable, such as with a game piece that includes a pivotable portion bearing game action indicia, which may be folded into a generally perpendicular orientation relative to a base portion. Games may include a game board, a set of rules, and a set of game pieces for each player, with some game pieces including different game action indicia than other game pieces. Some methods of game play may provide that a player may choose to perform the game action indicated by a game piece displaying game action indicia.

    • A hidden imgae game piece and a method by which a hidden image game piece is produced and used. A first hidden image game piece is formed on a transparent or translucent substrate. A second hidden image game piece is formed electronically, and optionally printed or alternatively, saved and distibuted in electronic format. The hidden image game piece can be used to distributed either physically or electronically, and it may be used to derive demographic information from recipients, to drive them to web sites or retail outlets, and to provide a means for distributing advertising, either on the game piece or at a game site, which may be a physical site, such as a retail outlet, or an electornic site, such as an Internet site. The methods of the present invention include the method of producing a game piece, the method of deriving demographic information from recipients of the game pieces, and the method of providing advertising to recipients of the game pieces.

    • Moveable display units (12) providing a gaming experience, each display unit includes one or more displays (20) that when actuated change a visual image associated with the display. There is an operator interface (16) including a computer (14) and a first transceiver (18) for sending and receiving signals from the moveable display units. Each moveable display unit includes a second transceiver (28) and an associated sensor (24) for detecting a marker indicating the position of the display unit and for providing a signal to the first transceiver, which communicates with the computer. The computer responds to the signal to cause the first transceiver to send a signal to the second transceiver on the moveable display unit to actuate a change in the visual image associated with such moveable display unit.
