摘要： Narrow band tunable radio frequency (RF) power amplifiers (PAs) and related methods are disclosed that provide narrow band tunable gain responses, such as linear gain responses, that can be selected for different frequency bands. The narrow band tunable PAs thereby provide out-of-band rejection for different selectable frequency bands so that narrow band filters are not required in the transmit input path for communication devices. The passband location and/or bandwidth for the narrow band gain response can be tuned using different techniques, as desired. The narrow band tunable PAs can also be fabricated using CMOS processing, if desired, so that a CMOS PA integrated circuit is provided.

The grounding switch uses isolated field effect transistors that have their substrates tied to different voltages. The isolated field effect transistor has a gate voltage and substrate voltage which can be pulled down to a negative voltage when the signal line has a negative voltage allowing the switch to remain open even with a negative voltage.

In an exemplary design, an apparatus may include first and second circuits (e.g., power amplifiers) and an output circuit. The first circuit may provide a first single-ended signal and may have a first output impedance. The second circuit may provide a second single-ended signal and may have a second output impedance. An input impedance matching network is coupled with the input and the control region and an output impedance matching network is coupled with the output and the first region. A first switchable biasing circuit is coupled with the control region to switchably bias the transistor between an on state and an off state. A passive bypasse network has a firt switch to switchably couple the input impedance matching network with the output impedance matching network through the passive bypass network.
