摘要： A material comprising aerogel particles and a polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) binder is formed having a thermal conductivity of less than or equal to 25 mW/m K at atmospheric conditions. The material is moldable or formable, having little or no shedding of filler particles, and may be formed into structures such as tapes or composites, for example, by bonding the material between two outer layers. Advantageously, composites may be flexed, stretched, or bent without significant dusting or loss of insulating properties.

摘要： This invention relates to a process for forming a single-layer, durably wettable polymeric web having a plurality of apertures. This process comprises melting a mixture of at least one thermoplastic polymer and at least one migratable surfactant and extruding the mixture to form a single-layer, substantially continuous polymeric film. The film is then apertured using high pressure fluid flows. Aperture formation is conducted when the single-layer polymeric film has a contact angle of at least about 30.degree., to minimize wash-off of the surfactant impregnated in the polymer web. The invention also relates to durably-wettable apertured webs.

One such material is for example cellular plastics. The dimensional changes, however, have entailed so great difficulties in using mould portions and/or protective elements of such materials that they have made the use of the material impossible.To eliminate the above mentioned disadvantage the mould portion and/or protective element of a material subjected to dimensional changes is manufactured with the desired dimensions, starting from at least one blank, immediately before the mould portion and/or protective element is used to mould the article or join the mould portion and/or protective element to the article to protect the surface portion thereof. Alternatively, the mould portion and/or protective element of a material subjected to dimensional changes is manufactured with the desired dimensions, starting from at least one blank after the blank has reached dimensional stability.

摘要： In the manufacture of skinned foam a technique for matching the viscosity of the skin as well as the foam so that both flow uniformly through the die includes the addition of blowing agent to all of the layers of the structure. To prevent foaming of the skin layers, nucleating agent is not added at those layers and the temperature is controlled so as to prevent nucleation without a nucleating agent. More specifically, the skins are kept above the boiling point of the blowing agent at atmospheric pressure and melt temperature, but below the temperature at which homogeneous nucleation occurs.
