摘要： A fiber drawing process and apparatus in which the fibers are drawn in small increments by passing the fibers in multiple wraps over on rotatably mounted spaced apart spindles having discrete circumferential microterraced surfaces which support the fiber. The terraced surfaces are parallel to the axis of rotation of the spindles and each microterraced surface having a continually increasing radius. The number of microterraces is equal to or less than the number of wraps of the fiber about the spindle. Cylindrical rolls in tandem with the microterraced spindles permit fine adjustments of the draw ratios.

One such material is for example cellular plastics. The dimensional changes, however, have entailed so great difficulties in using mould portions and/or protective elements of such materials that they have made the use of the material impossible.To eliminate the above mentioned disadvantage the mould portion and/or protective element of a material subjected to dimensional changes is manufactured with the desired dimensions, starting from at least one blank, immediately before the mould portion and/or protective element is used to mould the article or join the mould portion and/or protective element to the article to protect the surface portion thereof. Alternatively, the mould portion and/or protective element of a material subjected to dimensional changes is manufactured with the desired dimensions, starting from at least one blank after the blank has reached dimensional stability.

摘要： An apparatus used in combination with an input machine that continuously delivers a stretchable web to an input location and with an output machine that operates stepwise to treat the web at a stationary output location has a reciprocal support frame between the locations and displaceable in an upstream direction toward the upstream location and a downstream direction toward the downstream location. Longitudinal and transverse stretchers are carried on the frame and have web-engaging elements displaceable relative to the frame in the downstream direction for stretching the web and holding the web in stretched condition. A storing or tempering stage between the frame and the upstream location supports a loop of the web so that as the frame moves back and forth this loops grows and diminishes. A drive connected to the stretchers continuously advances the web in the downstream direction relative to the frame at a web-travel rate. An actuator is connected to the frame to move same when moving in the upstream direction substantially at the web-travel rate. Thus the web stops moving at the downstream location during such upstream movement of the frame.
