    • A controller is coupled to a plurality of moisture sensors positioned within the grain bin at various spaced-apart locations. The controller determines a grain moisture level adjacent each moisture sensor and compares the grain moisture level to a predetermined maximum moisture level. The controller is coupled to a grain spreader that is configured to selectively distribute incoming grain into the grain bin and operates the spreader to distribute incoming grain to create a shortened airflow path through the grain that encompasses the moisture sensors having determined grain moisture levels above the predetermined maximum moisture level. The controller is coupled to a fan that is coupled to the grain bin and configured to provide airflow through the grain in the grain bin. The controller operates the fan to provide greater airflow through the grain along the shortened airflow path than is provided along airflow paths outside the shortened airflow path.

    • An air-driven particulate material circulating means comprising a particulate material container having an air conduit extending thereinto. Blower means is provided in communication with the air conduit for forcing air therethrough outwardly through the orifice into the particulate material. A material discharge conduit has its intake end in communication with the interior of the container. The intake end of the discharge conduit is aligned with but spaced from the orifice so that the material being blown by the air passing outwardly through the orifice will be directed into the intake end of the discharge conduit. A valve means is provided for controlling the flow of material into the discharge tube. The discharge end of the discharge conduit may be either in communication with the interior of the container to provide recirculation of the material or it may be placed in communication with a container or receptacle remote of the material container to permit the conveying of the material. Means is also disclosed for conveying or transferring the material to locations other than the container if desired.

    • A device for drying food products such as vegetables by aeration. The device includes a container having a domed cover and housing a network of tubing having a plurality of apertures through which compressed air is discharged for drying food products supported within said container in a mesh basket. The dome-shaped cover enhances air circulation by re-directing upward flowing air back down toward the enclosed food product causing certain foods such as lettuce to tumble in the resulting air stream. A pressure relief valve operates to limit pressure within the container and allow the escape of moisture laden air. In an alternate embodiment water is first allowed to flow through the tubing network and out of the tube apertures for washing the enclosed food product.

    • This invention refers to a dryer for sugar cane bagasse and/or medulla with vertical type, mobile bed with countercurrent waste combustion gases consisting of: a cylindrical body like a silo. The load is fed into the top of the cylindrical body and is then evenly distributed by spreading devices. Combustion gases from conventional boilers with a high energy content and normally considered as waste are fed countercurrently with the assistance of a ventilator into the bottom of the dryer through slots or holes. Once the gases have picked up humidity while going through the silo, they are expelled through the top by means of a conduct to the boiler's chimney. Inside the dryer, the bagasse and/or medulla is moved slowly and constantly along Archimedes conveyors vertically, radially and rotating thus permitting broad exposure to the combustion gases, the dryer is further characterized because the vertical Archimedes conveyors are designed to have a varied pace, longer at the top and shorter at the bottom, that provides a bigger mix of the mobile bed at the top than at the bottom, thereby achieving a larger stratification in the bottom of the bed. It is also characterized because the mobile bed of bagasse and/or medulla acts in turn as a filtering element that retains the particles derived from the combustion gases making it possible to use less energy than in the known systems, providing longer residence and reducing the environmental pollution caused by combustion.
